Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. Operations light do to poor weather. At 0600hrs Command Message pass on to Companies (If your resupply item is not filled, ask, why not). At 1330hrs C Troop 1st of 1st Calvary Accident: Tank from C Troop 2nd Platoon, Platoon Leader LT Alexander hit a 5 Ton civilian truck, didn’t slow down or stop, while on way to Chu Lai, CO CPT Ester. At 1635hrs Delta 1st of 1st Calvary Gun ships report mortar tube was checked out by the gun ships and by Command and Control Helicopter found to be 2 dummy tubes and two dummy people. Set up probably for some sort of trap, also reported large group personnel have moved through the area within the last 44 hours. Intend to have Charlie Company check it out in the morning.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Bravo Company
September 9, 1969
At 0320hrs Bravo Company is now moving out for the North Bridge site. At 0620hrs Bravo Company 63 is moving back toward the South Bridge. At 0640hrs Bravo Company 63 is on the South Bridge and 37 is heading for the South Bridge and 92 is moving to our Day Logger location for today. At 1002hrs Bravo Company 32 will be having an assault drill. At 1000hrs Bravo Company is located at BS776447 and at 1030hrs at BS784433, detained 1 VCS male, 22-23 in his hut found 1 NVA Pistol. Belt and medical supplies, will be evac for questioning. At 1250hrs at BS784433 ref: Spot Report at 1030hrs on 1 VCS he was released as innocent civilian and he has a Brother in the ARVN, at 1545hrs Bravo Company at in their Day Logger at BS778499. At 2005 Bravo Night Defense Position is at BS777445, 32 BS779454, 33 BS777445, 64 BS771461, 63 BS7834418, and 67 BS795404. At 2215hrs Bravo Company 37 is closing on ARVN compound at this time and had movement (people with flashlights at grid BS789408, fired on it, think they got one hit. Returned to bridge, ARVN think 67 received return fire, but 67 can’t confirm because element was to busy moving out of the area. At 2300hrs Bravo Company 67 will be moving back to snake location or vicinity.
Charlie Company
September 9, 1969
At 0540hrs Charlie Company 36 closed and at 0558hrs 95 closing on our Night Defense Position. At 1146hrs the 32 element has closed on day Logger. At 1510hrs Charlie Company 62 at BS726439 and the 92 element is closing on the day logger and all elements are at Day Logger BS737442. At 2005hrs Charlie Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS726439 with the 34 at BS724449, and 67 at BS725438.
Delta Company

At 0735hrs Delta Company at BS733543 with light activity due to the poor weather conditions. At 0930hrs Delta Company all elements have been remind of the rules of engagement.
Echo Company
September 9, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0625hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 1 and Defense Targets 5 for a total expended 17 HE and 1 WP rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. The Area of Operation is light due to the weather as Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
