Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1033hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer reports 3 Vietnamese on motorcycle hit a mine placed under culvert, estimate charge 40 pounds with results 2 Vietnamese KIA and 1 Vietnamese WIA, was Dust Off, have started repairs on culvert. At 1450hrs Delta Company 19 Engineer received approximately 5 rounds of small arms fire from eastside, of road negative casualties or damage. At 1445hrs MACV Duc Pho reports Vietnamese are having a funeral at BS871311. At 1425hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer reports a Vietnamese cargo truck hit a mine about 20 meters south of culvert repair which was being done and truck landed on APC support in culvert crew, 3 EM where evac to Duc Pho. Negative Vietnamese casualties and all 3 EM where returning to duty today also 2 minor wounds. At 2015hrs MACV Duc Pho reports meeting of 30 VC at 2100hrs tonight MACV cleared with District Chief request for artillery be fired.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2044hrs LZ Bronco received 4 rounds 60mm mortar with 1 round impacted on south end of airstrip, 1 round impacted on each bunker 17, 18 and 20 with negative casualties and light damage to flood light. At 2050hrs MACV reports 6 rounds 60mm mortar at vicinity BS794380 with results 2 KIA and 3 WIA civilians and damage is unknown at this time, also there was 1 dud 60mm round located on the access road to LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0900hrs Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with 10, Command Post on LZ Liz with 20 at BS775445, 30 at BS728377. At 1440hrs Alpha Company called a Dust Off for 1 US WHA had found a camouflage spider hole threw in 1 hand grenade into hole. He then went off and threw another one in the hole, it went off threw another in hole waited 6 to 7 minutes for grenade did not go off within approximately 3 meters from hole and hand grenade went off, the US caught some shrapnel in the face. At 1750hrs Alpha Company (-) Command Post is at LZ Liz with 10 at BS823453 and 30 at BS723372.
Bravo Company

At 0900hrs Bravo Company locations is 10 at BS773526, 20 at BS766518 and 30 at LZ Dragon. At 1049hrs Bravo Company at BS774530 spotted 3 VC evading engaged with results 2 VC KIA, 1 VC WIA, 1 weapon carbine serial #379508, 2 packs all dressed in green they had a Sony radio. The WIA says he is VC and indicates he will talk and the Interrogator en route to the location at this time. At 1212hrs Bravo Company 10 at BS774530, 20 at BS774534, 30 at LZ Dragon. At 1515hrs Bravo Company reports VC captured this morning had lead Bravo Company to 2 tunnels, in first tunnel found 1 VCS CIA, in 2 tunnel found 6 VCS results 1 VC KIA, 4 VCS CIA, 1 VC got away. The informer informed the Platoon leader that the CIA will now show Bravo Company 2 more tunnels are located and Bravo Company is in Search. At 1530hrs in the 3rd Tunnel the VCS lead Bravo Company to found 87-30cal rounds, 26 M-16 magazines, 19 of which where loaded, 3 carbine magazines, which one was loaded, 12 M-79 rounds, 250 linked rounds of 7.62 and are still searching.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder At 0155hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Charlie Company 10 observed 2 individuals moving to the beach notified S-3 in a boat, got out carrying something like ammo box, engaged with small arms fire with negative results will continued to observer area. Charlie Company no change of location at 0835hrs. At 750hrs Charlie Company (-) reports their locations at LZ Thunder and 20 at Charlie Brown, 14 at Bridge 111 and 21 on Bridge at 94.
Delta Company

At 0900hrs Delta Company locations 10 at BS829259, 20 at BS824257, Delta Company Command Post at BS824257, 10 at BS819259, 20 at BS817253, 30 at BS821253, 35 in OP at BS828247. At 1244hrs Delta Company at BS821251, 1 US while sitting down for chow accidentally shot himself in the toe, Dust Off is called and completed at 1300hrs. At 1516hrs Delta Company at BS822257 2 VCS fires warning shots individuals evaded took under fire, results 2 VCKIA. At 1750hrs Delta Company (-) is Night Defense Position at BS827248, with 21 at BS822258, 22 Listening Post at BS825246 and 23 at BS833245. PFC William H. Kelly was sick at 0800hrs and evac and attached to the 37th Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the (1-20 Infantry) Battalion. Recon Platoon reports their Location at BS869266. At 1420hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Recon Platoon spotted 5 VC, 4 were dressed in black PJ, in khaki and 1 had a pack. They went into a hedgerow, are calling in artillery on thi8s location at BS877270 with negative assessment.
