Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0400hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Radar Targets at 1920hrs sighted 20 to 30 stationary personnel at BS739461 with negative clearance. At 2000hs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS725433 with negative clearance and at 2040hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel at BS718480 and engaged with 20 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2120hrs 5 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS728435 with negative clearance and at 2200hrs 5 to 7 stationary personnel at BS738406 and engaged was made. At 2300hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS725433 with negative clearance. At 2355hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were engaged with 20 HE of Artillery 105mm at BS789479. At 0045hrs 5 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS770475 and MACV was informed. At 0105hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS834395 and engaged with 5 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0200hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS840409 and engaged with 20 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0415hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were engaged with 4 HE of Artillery 105mm at BS727404. At 0755hrs 1-20 infantry TOC for tonight have out maximum ambushes from BS718428 to BS753465- CPT Thomas received the message at 090830hrs May. For tonight have maximum ambushes from BS720420 to BS778406 and swing south in a slight arc, CPT Mullins received the message at 090805hrs May. At 0910hrs 1-20 Infantry MACV was informed that we will be bringing in the 36 detainees with the first lift at 0920hrs and said he would have people standing by. At 1250hrs 1-20 Infantry reports the flame tracks have arrived on LZ Liz. At 1920hrs TMF String 75B has a stationary target with metal detected at BS791367 with an expenditure of 16 105mm rounds of artillery.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1050hrs Alpha Company Dolphin 28 pickup one detainee from last night and extracted to LZ Liz. A Company we request a priority Dust Off for one US with frag wounds of the right leg and face and hand resulting form a claymore basting cap. He was demonstrating how a safety works on a claymore but it did not work. He was in Chu Lai and will return on 10 May 1970 Name 1LT Hardy completed at 1820hrs. At 1900hrs Alpha Company the company moving to Night Defense Position at BS737452 with multiple ambushes out tonight. 1LT James E Hardy JR was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company is using multiple patrolling and multiple sweeps in the Area of Operation today. At 1805hrs Bravo Company is an examination of the perimeter at the Twin Ville one block of C4 was missing from the foo gas, one claymore was missing and one trip flare wire was cut. The perimeter wire was also cut. The US is let to believe it had to happen last night. At 1905hrs Bravo Company the 56 element found an RPG (B40) near a 20 pound shaped charge at the Twin Ville, and it was blown in place. At 2350hrs Bravo Company the 35 element at the 169 Compound received 5 B 40 rockers and approximately 80 to 90 of automatic weapons rounds fire to their southwest at approximately 150 to 200 meters. The suspected enemy gird is at BS785424 with negative casualties. We are calling in Artillery and 4.2 Mortar on the enemy location. At 0023hrs 5 casualties were reported one baby with head wound, 2 Recoilless Rifle rounds with multiple frag wounds. 2 RF with Multiple Frag Wounds and 2 additional RF with minor Frag Wound, Dust Off request at 0073hrs completed for 5 personnel at 0045hrs.
Charlie Company

At 0544hrs Charlie Company 76 element sprung their ambush at BS723416 on three (3) VC resulting in one VC KIA and 1 VC WIA/CIA. Search of area found 2 M-16, serial # 1535557-1304671, The VC 20-21 years of age, carrying 3 US Hand grenades, 1 pack of Documents, 2 US pistol belts, they where 75 meters before engaged. At 0612hrs Charlie Company we request a priority Dust Off for 1 VC male with frag wounds to the neck, head and shoulders. The VC received these wounds as a result of the ambush sprung by Charlie 76 element at grid BS723416 and completed at 0713hrs. The WIA VC later died and is now a KIA. At 0640hrs Charlie Company 34 has closed on LZ Liz. At 0715hrs Charlie Company the 76 and 58 element has made a sweep of the contact area at BS723416 with negative finding. At 0820hrs Charlie Company the 74 element checked out the area of radar sighting at BS727407 and found a made shift pack which was destroyed by artillery and a tunnel, 6’ to 8 ‘ into the ground. At 0827hrs Charlie Company the Combat Assault of TMF and the Charlie 34 element had a PZ of 0820hrs and LZ of 0830hrs LZ Cold. At 0845hrs Charlie Company the 74 and 76 elements are remaining to blow a tunnel while the 75 and 77 elements returned to Day Logger grid BS720407. Set up Night Defense Position and many snakes out. At 1023hrs Charlie Company in the extraction of Charlie 34 element and TMF the PZ was at 1015hrs and LZ was at 1022hrs. At 1930hrs request an urgent Dust Off for 1 Kit Carson Scout with eye injury from a branch at BS754411. He in danger of losing his eye completed at 1930hrs. Charlie Company requested an urgent Dust Off for one US, with a shoulder wound and bleeding heavily at BS759415, he was wounded by friendly fire. 34 elements is moving east along the river to find a place to cross. Spotted movement on the other side of river, 34 point engaged and wounded the man from 76 elements. At 1930hrs Charlie Company Command Post ambush location is at BS754411. Charlie Company has multiple ambushes out. SP4 Terry A. Piper evac to 23 Medical with gunshot wound left shoulder.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0622hrs Delta Company SRRP is closing on LZ Liz. Delta Company reports security patrols on Assess road.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0715hrs the 54 element is in their Day Logger at BS738474. At 0905hrs Recon SRRP is has a negative situation reports. At 1305hrs Recon Platoon the 56 snake location for tonight will be at BS688415 and from here we will move to a PZ at BS687421 in the morning. At 1553hrs 1-20 Infantry SGT Preston was informed that 10 May 1970 re supply will be taken between 1200hrs and 1300hrs let units know. At 1933hrs Recon the 53 snake is at BS688415.
