Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry is located at LZ Liz and continued their Mission and working with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1030hrs Fire Fly Mission 20-2100hrs 9 July from Bronco to southeast to BS860360, north to BS850390, west up Song Tra Cav to RR, north up tracks to BS757459, southwest down 515to BS710430, east down Son Tra Cav to BS850390 then return to LZ Bronco. At 1245hrs Helix 33 is putting in Air Strike in at grid BS798480 and at 1615hrs putting in Air Strike at BS855365. At 1635hrs AJAX Alpha-91, Bravo-70, Charlie-77, Delta-68, Recon-26. At 2035hrs Intelligence Report from MACV reported that Duc Pho and LZ Bronco are to hit tonight, enemy grid BS825362 and reported tail in vicinity.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0655hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer at BS885297 found set up as a booby trap, they blew the round in place also found propaganda Leaflets catered all along the Road.
Alpha Company
July 9, 1969
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with security of bridges. At 0755hrs the 94 element is at grid BS766427 and by 0850hrs 94 is now at grid BS764419. At 1027hrs Alpha Company closed on LZ Liz and continues the Security Mission of LZ Liz.
Bravo Company
July 9, 1969
At 0630hrs Bravo Company Day Logger grid BS739439 with the 44 and 94 elements will be moving out for their Recon in Force. At 2100hrs Bravo Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS731454 with snakes at BS732458 and BS738458.
Charlie Company
July 9, 1969
At 0615hrs Charlie Company 94 and 44 elements are moving out at this time. Charlie Company will use their Night Defense Position for their Day Logger. At 0720hrs Charlie Company has 10 females all between 16-20 most of them have no ID or papers, found them hiding in bunkers. In previous times we passed through this Ville there were only old people and kids. We also have 1 male approximately 56 years of age (belong to Farmer’s association). Charlie Company 94 and 44 elements are location at BS808467. At 0830hrs Charlie Company location BS803455 Urgent Dust Off one US personnel, gunshot wound in leg with 94 element shot by NVA with AK-47 (NVA spotted by Charlie Company wearing blue uniforms) Dust Off complete at 0853hrs mans last name Parker. At 0930hrs Charlie Company reports location BS803445, the 94 element (1 VC/NVA, military age, wearing blue uniform). Also have 1 carbine, serial #3404296. He has 3 bullet holes in him, possible he will not live. Getting interceptor to try and get some information form him. At 0955hrs Papers on VC/NVA says he’s from C-132, interceptor says it a VC unit, will Dust him off and question him further at the rear, completed Dust Off at 1024hrs also the 94 element has 1 more military age, male, interceptor says he is VC. At 1410hrs the 94 and 44 elements have closed on the Day Logger. At 1805hrs Charlie Company will conduct a Combat Assault 1st PZ 1730hrs, 2nd PZ 1757hrs to LZ 1749hrs (BS856381) and 2nd LZ 1805hrs (BS849368) cold. At 1900hrs my elements have linked up at BS849368 at this time and will be moving out to their Night Defense Position and by 1955hrs Charlie Company is moving into the position at BS834372 with snake at BS836377.
Delta Company
July 9, 1969
At 0600hrs Delta Company snakes closed and we are moving out of our position now. Our Delta Company at 0718hrs the entire element is at Day Logger vicinity of BS787437. At 1950hrs Delta Company reports locations at Night Defense Position located vicinity of BS786436 and the 95 element is moving out at this time for snake and reported in position at 2025hrs.
Echo Company
July 9, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon is located at LZ Liz.
