At 1105hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineers on LZ Snoopy to Quang Ngai, Charlie Company LZ Dragon to LZ Snoopy, Alpha Company 19th Engineers LZ Bronco to LZ Liz, Delta Company 19th Engineer, LZ Bronco to LZ Thunder, Charlie Company 19th Engineer from LZ Thunder to LZ Lowboy. The units that open Highway 1 listed above. At 1740hrs 1-20 Infantry at LZ Liz VIP program received 430 grenades, 3 4.2 mortar rounds, 3 105mm, 2 155mm rounds, 3 175mm rounds, 1 Chi Com mine, 2 B-40 rockets, 2 M-16 magazines, 1 81mm, 11 M-79 rounds and 1 VC Booby trap destroy. Then they spotted 2 more VC same Location calling Artillery now. At 1-20 Infantry at BS627555 calling in artillery 18 dinks run into hedge row, artillery hit, and no dinks have came out. At 1850hrs 1-20 Infantry at BS627555 7 VC 1 carrying packs 2 with weapons lost visual contact moving northwest along trail. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2324hrs LZ Bronco Bunker #36 received small arms fire 3 rounds approximately 20 meters south of position negative casualties. MSGT DALE EWWYN COLLYER LISTED AS KIA (SEE 12/17/68 died of HEART ATTACK).
Alpha Company

At 1215hrs Alpha Company is located at BS726493. At 1420hrs Alpha Company at BS724504 requests Dust Off for 1 man heat exhaustion, Dust Off completed at 1433hrs.
Bravo Company
January 9, 1969
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1215hrs Bravo Company 36 element is at BS729414. At 1643hrs Bravo Company at BS575413 detained 1 VCS for questioning evac to LZ Bronco.
Charlie Company

At 1215hrs Charlie Company is located at BS725385. At 1337hrs Charlie Company at BS723390 found 3 VC KIA with small arms fire, in shallow graves, 12 hours old, believe to be the ones they engaged last night. At 2100hrs Charlie Company 85 is located at BS724388.
Delta Company

At 0820hrs Delta Company at BS703577 detained 1 VC suspect for questioning and at 0855hrs received some sniper fire on their way back to LZ Dragon. At 1619hrs Delta Company at BS709539 a Chinook received ground fire from village. PFC Nelson E. Mills attached to the 27thth Surgical Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 1650hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS725451. At 1850hrs Recon Platoon observed 10 VC with packs and weapons moving southeast and fired artillery with negative assessment. At 1915hrs Recon from same location reports 30 VC with packs, 6 with weapons moving northeast and again fired artillery with a negative assessment. At 2324hrs reports closing LZ Bronco and at BS812383 received small arms fire, negative causalities, returned fire with negative assessment. At 1815hrs Bravo Company will move out from LZ Liz at 0330hrs to check the area. PFC Ralph Lugo was evac to 95th Evac Hospital at 1000hrs sick (11B10).
