Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continue their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0734hrs Weather warning: now in effect from 0800hrs to 1800hrs December 9, 1969. At 0840hrs 11 Brigade reports 123rd Aviation at BS513445 UH-1H (Tail #220) was reported downed at above time and grid. Air Craft had LTC Wall (XO Support Command) Air Craft on board. Special Forces from Minh Long moved to and secured the area. Results 6 US KIA 1 US WIA from (123rd Aviation) and Dust Off competed at and informed G-3 Major Boozer, Support Command SP Galavan and AAE LTC Brosnan. At 1810hrs LZ Liz Charlie Battery 1-82 Artillery Liaison requests routine Dust Off for 1 US with suspected Malaria and Duct off completed at 1820hrs.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. SP4 Jose Pamiglietti was attached to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Alpha Company
December 9, 1969
Alpha Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2000hrs LZ Liz has practice Alert sounded, and all personnel moved to their Defense Position and Recon Platoon assembled to CA if need, completed and all cleared as of 2016hrs.
Bravo Company
December 9, 1969
At 0655hrs Bravo Company 15 moving out on their patrol, the 35 snake has closed on BS776446 and at 0700hrs the 33 patrol is moving to BS773437. At 0800hrs Bravo Company is located at BS783433. At 1030hrs Bravo Company the 16 element is at checkpoint 2 at BS800430. At 1259hrs Bravo Company the 16 element has completed its patrol and is moving back at this time and closed on BS783433 at 1300hrs. At 1826 Bravo 36 is moving to BS788448 and 35 is moving to BS792480 and 14 to BS774432. At 1900hrs Bravo Company we just had a small Vietnamese boy brought to our Command Post location with a superficial gun shot wound of the mouth. He says a VC/NVA shot at him near BS784437, the medic treated him and no Dust Off is needed. At 1903hrs Bravo Company 14 is at BS774432 and the 34 element is moving to BS768457 and at 1905hrs Bravo Company 32 and PF 215 at BS778444 PF (32) received small arms fire and M-79 fire from 300 meters west. Requested Urgent Dust Off for 3 PF with M-79 frag wounds, Dust Off completed at 1942hrs and engaged the enemy location with the Gun Ships with unknown results. At 1930hrs Bravo Company the 34 element has closed on the North Bridge. At 1950hrs Bravo Company 32 vicinity BS776444 PF 215 1 PF Officer KIA shot in chest as a result of sniper fire, engaged with small arms fire with negative results at this time this was part of the initial contact at 1905hrs and Gun Ships broke station at 1956hrs. At 2110hrs Bravo 72 is at checkpoint 1 at BS778413 and reach checkpoint 2 (BS784414) at 2247hrs.
Charlie Company

At 0650hrs Charlie Company the 16 snake is now in location at BS833437. At 0800hrs Charlie Company is located at BS833437. Charlie Company will continue working the Security Mission for the Pacification Program Operation. At 2050hrs Charlie Company will established their Night Defense Position at BS794476.
Delta Company

At 1655hrs Brigade issued a Severe Weather warning from 090100hrs to 100200 December1969 winds from the northeast at 15 knots to 35 to 40 knots. At 0656hrs Delta Company the 74 element has closed on BS776446. At 0718hrs Delta Company is located at BS783428. At 0950 Delta Company report elements moving out and Day Logger is at BS736445. Delta Company (entire company) will conduct an area ambush along the 515 Valley from BS727446 to BS741453. They will be within 200 meters on either side of the 515. At 1230hrs Delta Company reports we have 1 female detainee, 32 years old who is a member of the Woman’s Association, her name is Nguyen Thi Nagu and her husband is suspected to be a VC leader and his name is LeCam, 30 years old, we will send her in for further questioning at BS736447. At 2017hrs AJAX for tomorrows Combat Assault at grid BS724448 for Delta Company 109 personnel in 5 Lifts and at 2200hrs All Delta Company elements are in position of ambush of 515 Valley.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0505hrs 4.2 Platoon reports total expended 41 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the Command Responsibility for Base Defense. At 0800hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS783428 and at 1200hrs report their location at BS783428. At 1400hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS767419 and at 1600hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at LZ Liz.
