Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 198th Light Infantry Brigade. As the 196th Light Infantry Brigade moves north to support the Marines. At 0824hrs 1-20 Infantry reports that Alpha Company from the 3-1 Infantry has closed on LZ Ryder at 0824hrs to free up Bravo Company 1-20 Infantry Bravo Company moved to LZ Ross. At 1012hrs Bravo Company conducts a Combat Assault from LZ Ross to BT019269 and at 1045hrs Alpha Company conducts a Combat Assault from LZ Ross to BT019269 with last LZ at 1059hrs. At 1100hrs Alpha Company 4-21 Infantry completed their Lift to LZ Ross to take over the Security Mission for LZ Ross. At 1845hrs Convoy from LZ Ross to LZ Baldy closed at 1845hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. Jay S. Wright was evac to the NSA hospital Da Nang.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation and move southward to the LZ Center area to support the 1-6 Infantry and Battle for NUI HOAC RIDGE. At 1334hrs Alpha Company at BT038276 found 2 graves with 2 VC KIA by Napalm.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company conducts Combat Assault First Lift 1013hrs, 2nd lift 1024hrs, 3rd lift 1030hrs LZ BT019269 welcome to LZ Center Bravo Company at 1400hrs location 1 mine & blew in place. Alpha & Bravo Companies where brought in to support the 1- 6 Infantry and Delta Company in the Battle for NUI HOAC RIDGE.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use their Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operations. At 1334hrs Alpha Company at BT038276 found 2 graves with 2 VC by Napalm.
Delta Company
May 8, 1968
At 0940hrs Delta Company to get the re-supply helicopter in, we open with artillery, air strike and had gun ships. The re-supply chopper was still under heavy automatic weapons fire as brought ammo and supplies at BT024224. Our Head Medic who was on chopper, he was WHA as he jumped off and was bright enough to jump back on the Chopper leave his pack of medical supplies as we loaded our WHA and KHA. Chopper took fire both in and out of the landing zone. I don’t believe he sit the chopper down just a U-turn, a small pause and off again. At 1255hrs Delta Company Delta Company at BS073233 had 1 man WHA from small arms fire and Dust Off call and completed at 1255hrs. At 1715hrs Delta Company set up their Night Defense Position at BT068238.
Echo Company

Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon manned OP Tiger, Cobra and Dragon.
