Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1300hrs The MP are in location on the Red Ball to block for the road opening ceremony. At 1325hrs the 1-20 Infantry Battalion CO arrived back at LZ Liz at 1400hrs from his Visual Recon of the site. At 1325hrs the War Lord Lead is on station for the road opening ceremony. At 1559hrs 1-20 Infantry the Assistant Division Commander arrived at LZ Liz and left a 1610hrs.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 8, 1970
At 0657hrs Alpha Company 21 the Combat Assault of Alpha Company 21 PZ 0657hrs from BS755395 to LZ at BS852370 and BS855379 time completed was 0704hrs. At 0735hrs Alpha Company the 66 element is moving out with the TMF team to BS745395. At 0858hrs Alpha 66 element has reached their location for the TMF Security Mission at grid BS745395. At 0858hrs Alpha Company reports negative situation reports, the 62, 92 and 12 elements are at BS754406, the 66 element is at BS745395 and the 33 element is at BS846387. At 0938hrs Alpha Company 32 found two sandbagged bunkers at BS852390. At 1222hrs Alpha Company 32 has reached the op of the hill BS851391, we checked out the bunkers and they appear to be American made negative other finding and Alpha Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position. At 1250hrs Alpha Company the 32 and 33 elements are moving to Recon present location to accept re supply at grid BS843380 and Alpha 33 is OPCON to Recon Platoon. At 1907hrs Alpha Company reports the 63 is moving to BS729419, the 92 element is moving to BS746379 and the 91 element is moving to BS745371 and closed on these locations.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company has multiple patrols out and sweeping areas for security of VIP’s. At 1025hrs Bravo Company 62 element pickup up 3 females 30-35 dressed in black and blue, 1 female had no ID and 2 other did but the Vietnamese will handle these detainees, at grid BS776418. At 1215hrs Bravo Company 94 element is at BS778427, the 95 element is at BS778423, the 15 element is at BS780431 and the 33 and 37 elements at BS787432. At 1220hrs the 66 element is providing security at BS783428, the 32 RF/PF is at BS783426 and the 96 RF/PF is at BS785427. At 2045hrs Bravo Company the 66 element at BS796395 received 2 M-79 incoming rounds with negative US casualties, and the 66 element engaged them with artillery and 81mm mortars on the enemy location, grid BS789376.
Charlie Company

At 0525hrs Charlie Company at grid BS769373 sighted 9 to 15 VC/NVA that where walking northeast to the southwest and came up to our 16 ambush. We engaged them with claymores and small arms fire. At BS731439 and all 9 snakes are out. At 2015hrs Charlie Company all their night snakes (12) are in their Position along the line outline at 1015hrs.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0753hrs Delta 94 in reference to the area engaged last night at 2355hrs found one banana clip with AK47 ammo, 3 sandals, one cigarette lighter and one pair of nail clippers. Also one big spot of blood on the ground, signs that a body had been drag off to the north. A tracker dog was requested and approved grid BS765445. At 1150hrs Delta 96 element working with the tracker team followed the tracks approximately 1.5 clicks and lost the trail on a heavily used trail. At 1915hrs Delta Company reports the 33 element is at BS764437, the 63 element is at BS774443. The 34 element is roving from BS758343 and to BS769435, and the 84 element is roving from BS769439 to BS776443.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion At 0624hrs 4.2 Mortar Platoon reports Schedule Fires 8, Observed Missions 4, and Defensive Targets 5 with total expended 79 HE, 6 WP, and 29 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0543hrs Recon Platoon reports we are moving to our blocking position from BS853400 to BS850400. At 1019hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS844386. At 1453hrs Recon Platoon the location for the 34 element is at BS852388. At 1605hrs Recon reports the Alpha Company 34 element will have snake tonight at BS844396 and that Recon is moving to BS860378. At 1640hrs Recon at grid BS853382 we found a camp fire with freshly cooked rice along with a pistol belt, 2 hand frag grenade and ammo box of rice. The Kit Carson Scout says that by the amount of rice about 7 personnel were there. At 1800hrs Recon reports that they are in their Night Defensive Position at BS857383. Alpha Company 33 element OPCON to Recon has an OP at BS843390. At 1925hrs Recon Platoon the 34 element is moving to their snake location at Bs857376 and the OPCON Alpha Company 33 snake is moving to BS844396.
