Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry is located at LZ Liz and continued their Mission and working with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0945hrs The 174th Fire Fly Mission: 1-20 Infantry at 2100hrs from LZ Bronco Southeast to BS855365, north to BS850390, west to along Song Tra Cav river across highway 1 and then to RR north up to BS757459, southwest to BS710430, then east on Song Tra Cav to BS850390 then to LZ Bronco. At 1615hrs AJAX: Alpha-91, Bravo-73, Charlie-73, Delta-72 and Recon-26. At 1845hrs Brigade S-5 reported had 1 HB team with Delta Company. Brigade reports Major Perkins wet to Quang Nagi work with ARVN G-5 and LT Ferrier went to Chu Lai to coordinate with Division G-5. At 1920hrs Liaison Officer at Tu Nghia from 1-20 Infantry had SOI extract and suffix in pocket of uniform- fatigues sent to laundry, laundry said they had taken it out of pocket and burned it, response Major White took car of matter.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0235hrs LZ Bronco received 7 rounds of 75mm RR, 5 rounds impacted in the Ammo Dump, 2 rounds outside the Ammo Dump, negative casualties or damage. Also reports received 2 rounds of 140mm rockers, 1 impacted at southeast pad, and 1 round impacted in the side of Montezuma, negative damage. At 0358hrs SI-5 LZ Bronco picked up 3-5 personnel at BS840391, engaged with 81mm and Artillery 105 with unknown results. 0545hrs LZ Bronco received 3 140mm rockers, 2 hits on side of hill just behind 1-20 Infantry rear, 1 on southeast pad with negative casualties or damage, enemy grid BS755335.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with security of bridge.
Bravo Company
July 8, 1969
Bravo Company is their Day Logger at BS733443 and at 0855hrs the 64 elements moves out on Recon in Force Patrol. Bravo Company our Night Defense Position is at BS730439 with snakes 64 at BS726445 and 44 at grid BS715440 all in position at 2000hrs.
Charlie Company
July 8, 1969
At 0305hrs Charlie Company we are leaving our Night Defense Position site, heading north. At 0625hrs Charlie Company engaged 4 evading VC at grid BS809482 result, 1 KIA, 1 CIA and 2 escaped. At 0730hrs Charlie Company the 44 element at BS806482, Command Post and 84 element at grid BS809478, 94 element grid BS809472, 64 element BS811471. At 0930hrs 1 VC CIA is now a KIA. At 1037hrs Charlie Company Location BS809478, the interceptor questioned taking in for further questioning. The people did say there was a lot of VC in the area. Charlie Day Logger at grid BS804484 moved in at 1150hrs. (Ajax 73) At 1935hrs Charlie Company in their Night Defense Position at BS818472 at 2058hrs the 98 snake in location BS808477.
Delta Company

At 0530hrs Delta Company reports all elements have closed and the 94 and 64 elements are moving out at this time. 0647hrs Delta Company our 64 element while moving to blocking force location captured 3 female VC suspects had (No ID cards). At 0735hrs Delta Company location the 94 element BS784476, 64/84 element BS786464, 44 and Command Post at BS781471, and the 66 element BS782465. At 1034hrs Delta Company 94 and 66 element closed on 64 element at grid BS786464 found 300-400 pounds of rice hidden in a couple of hootches also a couple of poncho liners and ponchos, also questioning some old mama sons. At 1105hrs found a ammo can full of papers, That National Police said its VC, also found a total of three tons of unpolished rice in 400 pounds, caches. At 1425hrs a total tonnage for rice was approximately 2 ½ tons. At 1745 Delta Company location BS781471 requests a Dust Off for a man with high temp of 104.0 (Edward Wright). At 1920hrs on our way to our Night Defense Position 3 dinks evaded from US. We fired at them 2 went southwest and l went east. We think we got one going east, we are sending an element out to check it out. At BS784466 we have a KIA age 20-21 wearing black pants and he has some papers that we will send in tomorrow. At 2025hrs Delta Company we are in out Night Defense Position with our 46 snake in position by 2117hrs.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0655hrs Recon Platoon conducts a Combat Assault PZ 0630hrs and LZ at 0655hrs LZ Cold. At 0900hrs Delta Company vicinity BS786464, while blocking for Recon Platoon captured 3 VCS females, no ID or anything that pertaining to them. At 0945hrs Recon Platoon reports location at BS797443 as they are moving to grid BS803472. At 2045hrs Recon Platoon is located at LZ Liz.
