Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0525hrs 1-20 Infantry reported that six sampans were sighted approximately 1000 meters off shore in vicinity BS890340 in violation of dust to dawn curfew. Patrol was boat dispatched to area. At 0900hrs 1-20 Infantry CPT McDonald located a 250 pounds bomb at BS839262 requested EOD, Command and Control Helicopter will pick up EOC team at 174 Operations approximately 0930hrs. At 1442hrs 1-20 Infantry Colonel Beers call reference 2 elements from the 4-3 Infantry coming in contact with 1-20 Infantry. Says that the 4-3 Infantry is not where they say they are. He has been trying to a Command and Control Helicopter since 1200hrs to check situation out, he wants this entered in Duty Log. At 1510hrs EOD team report on 250 pounds bomb (in the 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation), the VC had tried to move to carrying pole was still attached, bomb had a 904 fuse. At 1556hrs 1-20 Infantry Bravo Company at 938222, Bravo detained suspect, interrogated by Military Intelligent at Bravo Company location Military Intelligence recommended he be sent to IPW compound, will be evacuated this afternoon. At 1643hrs 1-20 Infantry was reminded that boundary extension for 1st Calvary Division has been extended to 091800hrs January 1968. At 2024hrs 1-20 Infantry reports grenade was thrown vicinity bridge 95, E Troop elements location there no US casualties, grenade landed 15 meters from bunker. At 2113hrs 5 Cen Scenic Patrol reports to 1-20 Infantry the CS agent grenade was thrown at them, base of LZ Thunder Highway 1, 1-20 Infantry request from TOC who threw it, was probably thrown by the enemy. Scenic patrol was contacted and stated that they would keep this Headquarters informed of any new developments.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 2138hrs 6th support spotted movement bunker 55, 56 spotted tunnel entrance behind bunker 55. Tunnel has not been used will keep under surveillance. At 2300hrs 6th Support sighted 3 men, 60 meters to left front at BS844375, taken under fife and no further movements. 6th Support found tunnel behind bunker 71, well concealed will check thoroughly tomorrow. At 2348hrs 6th Support reports position sighting of individual vicinity BS843374 Illumination fired, with negative sightings.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Search and Destroy mission in their Area of Operation.
Bravo Company
January 8, 1968
Bravo Company at BS938226 detained 1 VC suspect, interrogated by MI (Military Intelligence) at Bravo Company location recommended he be sent to IPW compound and Will be evac this afternoon. Bravo Company at BS933228 located tunnel, man fled into same tunnel is searching it with Negative results.
Charlie Company

At 1130hrs Charlie Company spotted some activity north west of their Location at BS816290. Requested plot on nearest unit from 4-3 Infantry in their Area of Operation, informed that Delta Company 4-3 Infantry in 2.5 clicks west of their location at 1245hrs. Charlie Company reports that Delta Company 4-3 Infantry appears to be moving into Charlie Company Area of Operation and request that Delta Company 4-3 Infantry get on 1-20 Infantry radio and coordinate their location. At 1602hrs Charlie Company continued there Search and Destroy Mission in their Area of Operation. Morning Report SGT Billy Clinard attached to 67th Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company located two tunnels vicinity BS808266 at 1050hrs 1 was caved in, other in good condition. Village at BS866323 Delta Company reported that civilians have not been conducting normal activities for the past few days, no water buffalo or anything there where seen. At 1426hrs Delta Company reports a 155 round at BS893263 will blow in place. At 1600hrs Delta Company continued their Search and Destroy Operation in their Area of Operation.
Echo Company

Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder.
