Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1120hrs TMF S 76 at BS781357 at 1109hrs Stationary target, negative confirmation on metal, with negative clearance. At 1132hrs Brigade receive word from CPT Mullins Combat Assault for tomorrow was disapproved by Major Brown, 1-20 Infantry will move at a later date, Colonel Barlow will coordinate with Colonel Lynch at a later date. At 1330hrs Brigade requests an Area of Operation extension to Division BS771600 to BS7460 to BS7457 to BS7857 Date/Time/Grid 081800hrs to 101800hrs September. At 1420hrs Brigade reports 75 Ranger LRRP while flying over BS590478 saw 20 VC with packs moving northeast on a trail beside a stream, evaded and did not engaged. At 1955hrs MACV 169 element at bridge 119 at BS788415 have contact with estimated Company of VC/NVA, at 2020hrs contact was broken, results they have 1 VC KIA. At 2000hrs Brigade received message from MAJ. Brown, informed Major Bassett that a LOH will pick him up at 0930hrs and go to Division for a meeting concerning 1 of our elements it had nothing to do with current operations and MAJ. Bassett was informed at 2005hrs and then MAJ Brown was informed at 2007hrs. At 2300hrs TMF 1949hrs S 61B stationary target, metal confirmed, and at 2000hrs engaged with 8 HE rounds155 Artillery and at 2015hrs TMF S 61B sighted stationary target, negative metal and at 2055hrs engaged with 8 HE rounds 155 Artillery. TMF at 2040hrs S 76 sighted stationary target, negative metal and at 2055hrs engaged with 8 HE rounds of 155 Artillery. Alpha Company

At 0855hrs Alpha Company routine Dust Off for 1 US with severely sprained ankle line #B3897 at BS602485 completed at 1350hrs. Alpha Company all elements in location BS601531.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with the Access Road.
Charlie Company
September 7, 1970
At 0738hrs Charlie Company the 23 and 63 elements is moving out for BS599476. At 1015hrs Charlie Company 54 made contact with 6-7 enemies at BS611465, enemy had Chi Com and automatic weapons, element pulled back and put artillery in Helix on station with fighters. Kit Carson Scout with frag wounds to head, tactical priority Dust Off requested completed at 1147hrs, Helix putting in Air Strike at BS611470 and Air Strike completed at 1035hrs. At 1215hrs Charlie Company sweeping contact area, found fighting positions, 1 NVA belt, first aid kit, and some blood trails which stopped. At 1220hrs Charlie Company found Base Camp at BS601471, also some papers with writing, also some bunkers with small tunnels, one grave and a green frame hooch, grave had a male in white bag with poncho covering the body, only one day from yesterday action. At 1243hrs Charlie Company the 53 element at BS601471 engaged 1 enemy walking down trail, had on black pajamas and a blue top, had a weapon and checked out the area, with negative findings. At 1506hrs Charlie Company found 2 open pits 8 X 20 at BS601471 with a bunker underneath 4 X 15, 1 small shelter 3 X 4 and other building. At 2015hrs Charlie Company the 23 element is moving out for BS597475 and the 09 element in Night Defense Position at BS661481.
Delta Company

At 0646hrs Delta Company established at Day logger at BS615518 and used patrols in Recon in Force in their Area of Operation. At 0725hrs Delta Company 25 element is moving out for BS624521, the 55 element is moving out for BS610506 and the 65 element is moving our for BS620528. At 1903hrs Delta Company 23, 55, 65 elements have closed on their Night Defense Position at BS613533. At 2000hrs Delta Company the 09 element in their Night Defense Position at BS613533.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry at LZ Liz.
