At 0823hrs LZ Liz Access road is now open. At 1130hrs To Brigade S-3 from 1-20 Infantry S-3, Commanding General departed LZ Liz at 071130 May, Discussed, the current tactical events including ARVN operation in 515 Valley. Indicated 1000hrs or 1100hrs H Troop 17 Calvary to arrive in Brigade Tactical Area of Operation. Close monitoring of Calvary locations necessary. Indicated (24 hour truce) to be on 9 May. Discussed RD work areas, and populated areas in6 general. At 1120hrs Americal Division Commander is at LZ Liz and departed LZ Liz at 1155hrs. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin (19) 710 is on station for re supply. At 1530hrs To Brigade S-3 from 1-20 Infantry S-3 Acknowledge receipt of Fragord (Frag Orders) 3 to Opord (Operation Orders) 2-71 (Finney Hill). At 1500hrs Primo 2 is on station at this time, and broke station at 1600hrs. At 2047hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Recon 1, Bravo 4, Charlie 5 and Delta 4 for a total of 14. At 2110hrs TMF (E-7) Sting 296 Target E has 2 to 3 sampans moving west to east negative metal confirmation and negative clearance due to proximity of Ville. At 2121hrs Saber Yellow is on station and cleared into Box 62, negative findings, broke station at 2137hrs. At 2332hrs Saber 44 clear into Box 66 and broke station at 2450hrs with negative findings. At 2335hrs LZ Liz Bunker Line Inspection: Quad 50 didn’t know challenge and pass word, # 12 was OK, # 10 was no one there, # 15 covered by bunker # 16, # 14 was OK, # 16 Lane. Also Alpha Company 1st Platoon was laying down, no knowledge of challenge and pass word, no commo, no knowledge of claymores, flack jackets and helmets laying around on the ground away from bunker proper. Legend: 1st Platoon 58, 2nd Platoon 16, 3rd Platoon 83, 4th Platoon 42, CO-07.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Bunker inspections getting better and harder to get a satisfactory. At 0330hrs LZ Liz in Bunker line check, Bunker # 14, Guard, had no knowledge what to do in case of emergency, # 13 Bunker was not manned, 4 to 5 people sleeping in bunker, # 9 OK, # 8 OK. At 1120hrs Americal Division Commander is at LZ Liz. At 2220hrs LZ Liz Bunker line check is getting more often and harder to get it right, # 13 had no commo, # 14 did not know password, # 15 was OK, # 4 was OK and # 5 OK.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company used Patrol Bases and multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0720hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 2nd and 4th Platoons is in there Patrol Base. At 1020hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon Patrol is moving to BS654535. At 1125hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon is moving out to BS668508. At 1150hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol has closed on BS655530. At 1343hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon closed on BS668508. At 1957hrs Bravo Company all element in Night Defense Position Command Post 2nd and 4th Platoons at BS664522, 1st Platoon at Nui Vong and 3rd Platoon at BS683514 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is using Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1150hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon Patrols closed at this time at and 3rd Platoon is moving to BS737456. At 1300hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon spotted 2 VC/NVA with packs and weapons vicinity grid BS737456, Fire Mission call on hen check fired due to proximately location of 4/4 ARVN, the are maneuvering to intercept VC. At 2020hrs Charlie Company all elements in Night Defense Position Command Post and 3rd Platoon at BS717463, 3rd Platoon ambush BS723457, 1st Platoon at BS714410, 1st Platoon ambush at BS715403 and 2nd Platoon at BS713452 with 2nd Platoon ambush at BS713454.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their use of multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1100hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving to BS707475, 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS708488 and 3rd Platoon Patrol at checkpoint 1 at vicinity BS712501. At 1658hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post moving out to rally point vicinity BS709484 before moving into Night Defense Position. At 2119hrs Delta Company check points for Delta Company move tomorrow morning checkpoint 1 at BS727470, checkpoint 2 at BS728446, Checkpoint 3 vicinity BS737443 and checkpoint 4 BS759440, 1. Delta Company reports Command Post with 2nd Platoon 1st Platoon and 4th Platoon, 3. 3rd Platoon will move through each checkpoint. At 2038hrs Delta Company 1st and 4th Platoons in their Night Defense Position at BS711477, Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS710480 and 3rd Platoon at BS707500 with 4 Mechanical ambush out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1107hrs Echo Company 1-20 Infantry at 0915hrs while driving north on highway 1 at 25 miles per hour vicinity BS782433, ¾ ton truck with 3 personnel from E Company received 20 to 25 rounds small arms fire from 100 meters to their east. PF in compound nearby (174, 184) returned fire, truck had negative damage and negative casualties. At 1933hrs Recon has change in Night Defense Position to BS661505 which they are closing on. At 2011hrs Recon element is in their Night Defense Position at BS664510.
