Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0350hrs 1-20 Infantry reports at 1915hrs Radar sighted at BS730432 10 to 15 personnel with negative clearance and Charlie Company was informed and at 2140hrs spotted 6-8 were sighted moving west to BS726458 with negative results and informed Charlie Company. At 2140hrs spotted 3 to 4 stationary personnel were sighted at BS787469 and engaged with 9 HE of 4.2 Mortar. At 0600hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar sighted 25 to 30 personnel moving northwest with negative clearance and Charlie Company was informed. At 0907hrs Brigade reports LRRP Team Nevada will be inserted, this morning by the Warlords at BS7324 to BS7535 to BS7530 and to BS7130. At 1130hrs 1-20 Infantry 11th Brigade Commanding Officer arrived at LZ Liz and departed at 1145hrs. At 1438hrs Charlie Company 26th Engineer requested Urgent Dust Off for 1 US, he (Charlie Company 26 Engineer) received frag wounds to lower extremities with injury to Left eye when a dossier rolled over a mortar round which exploded causing injuries to the man standing close by (SP4 James D. Nunn) completed at 1450hrs. At 1440hrs 1-20 Infantry the Assistant Division Commander arrived at LZ Liz and left again at 1520hrs. At 1545hrs LRRP was inserted at BS733328 with a cold insertion. At 2320hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at LZ Max at BS755469 received 3 60mm Mortar rounds engaged suspected enemy location with unknown results.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0400hrs Alpha Company elements are moving to the blocking positions 01 element BS774405 to BS776398, the 62 element from BS776398 to BS778389 and the 21 element from BS778389 to BS874391. At 1015hrs Alpha Company is now moving to Night Defense Position and Day Logger at BS754406. Alpha Company continued their multiple patrolling along the Area of Operation.
Bravo Company

At 0628hrs Bravo Company 06 element is at BS783388 and blocking to BS792398. At 0640hrs the 01 element is blocking from BS775398 to BS784417. At 0931hrs Bravo Company we request an urgent Dust Off for one PF with M-79 frag wounds to the neck he received these wounds while playing around with the M-79 completed at 0950hrs, grid BS787387. At 1015hrs Bravo Company at BS776418 detainee 3 males (ages 30-35) wearing black and blue clothing) I with no ID evac thru PF channels to MACV at Duc Pho. At 1135hrs Bravo Company 01 element has picked up one Vietnamese female with no ID and 21 years of age at BS775406, she was evading from the blocking force. It was reported that she had been sleeping in the general location. The detainee was wearing black pajamas. The Bravo Company at 1745hrs we request one routine Dust Off for one Vietnamese female with frag wounds in the right side due to unknown fire, grid BS771461, completed at 1858hrs. Bravo Company the 26 element sprung their ambush on 3 VC who were 2 to 3 hundred meters away and we are calling in artillery on the grid at BS765470, BS768465, BS746472 and BS747468.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 0700hrs Charlie Company at BS736466 while moving back into the Night Defense Position detainee 1 Vietnamese male who had an NVA ID card and states he is an NVA was Evac to LZ Bronco. Charlie Company the 03 element spotted one VC male evading and engaged resulting in 1 VC KIA 20 years old, dressed in all blue. The VC was carrying a pistol belt with 1 M26 hand frag and a first aid packet. He was also wearing a sack around his chest containing personnel items and documents grid BS725452. At 0710hrs Charlie Company is moving out on their sweep to the east to the railroad berm and the 515 Valley. At 0749hrs 01 element spotted 10 VC evading at BS725455, we are calling artillery with unknown results. At 1011hrs Charlie Company 03 and 63 elements are at BS720457, the 61 element is at BS724454 and 01 at BS725458, and the 21 element is at BS743455. At 1034hrs the 02 element came upon a blood trail, which we followed and found 2 Vietnamese children one was a boy of 7 years of age and dressed in red shirt and black shorts he had $1.72 in piasters and some salt. He was wounded in the left leg. One girl, 10 years of age, dressed in black shirt and blue pants. The Charlie Company 02 element reports that the children had been in the area for 3 days, and at short distance away we found a cave with a dining room table in it. At 1320hrs the 61 element requests an Urgent Dust Off for one male VC CIA/WIA who has a gunshot wound to the leg. The 61 element spotted VC trying to hide clothing. He began to evade and was engaged and wounded, Dust Off completed at 1358hrs at grid BS721459. At 1410hrs Charlie Company our Night Defense site for tonight is BS724443. At 0730hrs they will sweep from Night Defense Position and leaving the 51 element behind and we will go to BS725470 and during the sweep the 01 element will be setting up snakes at grid BS720450 for tomorrow operation. At 1915hrs Charlie Company is now in their Night Defense Position at BS729444.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0744hrs Delta Company repeated of message the 01 element spotted 10 evading VC at BS725455 and calling in artillery with unknown results. At 2355hrs Delta Company 23 observed 5 personnel who were 200 to 300 meters north of access road BS765445, they were engaged with small arms fire and called for in illumination with negative finding and will check the area again in the morning.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0651hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Missions 5 and Defensive Targets 1 with total expended 17 HE, 1 WP, and 27 Illumination. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0744hrs Recon Platoon reports their present Day Logger is at BS828437 and the 23 element is moving out on their patrol to BS810457. At 0945hrs Recon 23 element patrol has closed on BS819443 and while on patrol the element found freshly dug bunkers and footprints coming from the river and leading towards Tripoli. We also found Vietnamese metal food containers approximately 2 days old. The Kit Carson Scout believed that this is the temporary location of a stop over for VC/NVA troops traveling from the river to Tripoli. At 1455hrs Recon the 21 element snake will be at BS841408 with 1 snake will be at BS840415 and we request that the 23 element stay at BS783433. At 2115hrs Recon Platoon reports the 11 element is at BS852403 and the 22 element is at BS849403. At 2350hrs Recon 22 element sprung their ambush on some VC in the water at BS849403 and we are calling in artillery with negative results.
