Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0200hrs Radar reports at BS730466 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted by radar with Alpha Company informed. Charlie Company continued they Land Clearing Operations and information is on Delta Company. At 1110hrs Helix (FAC) 03 is checking out the northwest corner of the Area of Operation (mountains) and reports there are signs of recent activity. At 1655hrs 1-20 infantry TOC a weather warning was passed on to all units, winds up to 15-30 knots with a 3 mile visibility and thundershowers between 1630hrs to 2300hrs. At 1805hrs Charlie Company 26 engineer in the Land clearing Operation a total of 24 hours were netted with 26 acres cleared at BS769540 to BS766546 to BS772541 to BS768547, 4 Bunkers were destroyed, 6 fighting positions destroyed, 3 booby traps destroyed with 1 unknown type round destroyed and 1 dud 155mm round destroyed. We have 3 D7 operational with 2 D7 deadlines 1 with hydraulic hose and 1 in for maintenance. 1 CEV operational and 1 CEV is deadline with defective voltage regulator.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
June 7, 1970
At 0855hrs Alpha Company the 82 element is moving to Liz. At 0530hrs Alpha Company reports that the National Police at BS739449 set a fire in a hedgerow at this grid, setting off 300 rounds of small arms and one Chi Com grenade. In checking the area we found one grenade unexploded and we blew it in place. Alpha Company is detaining and turning in to Military Intelligence 2 Vietnamese female. Alpha Company Night Defense Position is at BS743453.
Bravo Company
June 7, 1970
At 1830hrs Bravo Company 92 element found and blew in place a booby trap made of Petna in a fish can and a trip wire fire device at BS804461. At 1900hrs at 1900hrs the 92 element while on patrol engaged 4 VC at BS810462 at 25 to 50 meters resulting in 1 VC approximately 25, wearing a Grey shirt, and black pants, and AK 54 pistol and unknown number of VC evaded to the southwest. At 1925hrs Bravo Company the 92 element found a Chi Com grenade booby trap at BS801455 which was destroyed in place. At 2200hrs Bravo Company the 76a element spotted 2 lights at BS798442 while moving to their snake location BS800400. Bravo Company 76a called in 81mm on grid and we went to check the area and they spotted VC and engaged them with small arms fire at about 200 meters east of BS798442 with negative finding and VC evading east.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz, at 2026hrs Charlie Company the 74 element in Location on the access road, at 2200hrs with 55 SRRP is at BS750433.
Delta Company
June 7, 1970
At 0604hrs Delta Company will move to their Day Logger position vicinity BS751571 and Delta Company has report their location at BS755570 and at 0742hrs Delta Company 92 continuing to work with Charlie Company 26 Engineer located at BS778557. At 0758hrs Delta Company we are in our Day Logger at BS750442 and will accept resupply here. At 0855hrs Delta Company spotted and engaged at BS749554, one VC/NVA believed to be a point man for a large size element at 400 meters, the VC/NVA was dressed in a green uniform and steel pot and is unknown if he had a weapon. He was carrying a pack. He evaded to the northeast back into wood line, Artillery was put into action with negative finding. At 0855hrs 26 Engineer at BS769541 a D7 hit a booby trapped 105 round, trip wire type, at the base of a tree with negative casualties or damage. At 0955hrs 26 Engineer at BS770542 a 105 round was set up by a D7 near the base of a bamboo thicket, there was negative casualties or damage. At 1610hrs Delta Company the 52 element is at BS754547 and the 72 element is at BS742563. At 1735hrs 2 US were evacuated to 23rd Med. with high Temperatures. At 1915hrs Delta Company was moving into Night Defense Position at BS743550. At 2055hrs Delta 54 sprung their ambush 4 VC/NVA at 25 to 30 meters. The VC/NVA were coming from the west and is checking the area, we found 1 VC KIA, wearing black pajamas and blue shorts and age 25-30, vicinity 749541. He had no weapon, no ID, and the fire was no returned. The other VC evaded to the West. They had 2-3 weapons. 1LT Peter N. Dimercsurio was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital sick.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0555hrs 4.2 Platoon is the past 24 hours we had no expenditures were made. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0639hrs Recon Platoon all elements have closed on a BS740613 and will accept re supply here. At 2010hrs Recon Platoon we are in our Night Defense Position at BS738472.
