Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Ross for Operation WHEELER-WALLOWA and are OPCON to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. Alpha Company is airlifted to LZ Ryder and relieved Bravo Company who is air lifted to 3-21 Infantry, Area of Operation and became OPCON to 3-21 Infantry.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1745hrs Bravo Company 19 Engineer at BS768441 had a 3/4 Ton truck hit anti metallic mine. Results 2 US KIA and 5 US WHA truck was completely destroyed. Mine left a crater 6’ wide and 3’ deep. The mine was command detonated. The 19 Engineer reports have on June 7, 1968 1LT DAVID ALLEN PADDOCK HEADQUARTERS COMPANY AND SGT ROBERT JAY WESTRATE BRAVO COMPANY LISTED AS KIA.
Alpha Company

At 0900hrs Alpha Company conducted a Combat Assault from AT969304 to LZ Ryder and took over Security Mission for the LZ Ryder and with the OP.
Bravo Company
June 7, 1968
Bravo Company is airlifted from LZ Ryder at 0909hrs to LZ vicinity BT076206 and OPCON to the 3-21 Infantry and joins up with Charlie Company 3-21 Infantry. At 1130hrs Bravo Company at BT0522 on last lift gun ships received small arms fire and Gun Ships engaged resulting in 3 VC KIA in green uniforms. At 1300hrs Bravo Company at BT086217 received 20-30 rounds automatic weapons fire from 250 meters north of location and Artillery called with no US casualties or damage. At 1745hrs Bravo Company at BT092215 received 6-8 rounds small arms fire from 600 meters returned fire with Artillery and sweep are with no results. At Charlie Company 3-21 Infantry by end the day located at BT069372 LZ Center Area of Operation. Bravo Company reports SP4 Dionisio Malano was attached to the 67th Evac Hospital sick at 0930hrs.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company moved out to their east toward BT0529 and at 0750hrs vicinity BT057306 Charlie Company received automatic weapons fire and the results being 2 WHA (E) and return with Artillery. Charlie Company continued their Search and Clear operation to BT048299 to BT056294. Charlie Company reports their Night Defense Position is at BT035298. At 1718hrs Command and Control Helicopter during resupply of Charlie Company both pilots were hit, 1 in leg and other in arms, both are in Battalion Aid station, the Helicopter took 30 caliber fire. Charlie Company reports the following SP4 Stephen Glimpse and PFC Gerald D. Sawyer where evac to 95th Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ Ross and will have 1 Platoon sweep north of the LZ Ross on a Search and Clear operation and return. PFC James R. Fetters and SGT David L. Carroll were sick and at 1400hrs was evac to 5th Support Battalion.
Echo Company
June 7, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Ross where Battalion Forward, is located and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and the Base Defense on LZ Ross. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Ross where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. 1-20 Infantry Recon Platoon reports have manned and maintain OP at BT000315, BT000370 and BT045380.
