Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0418hrs Warlord Blue into Nighthawk 67, at 0503hrs broke with negative findings. At 0716hrs LZ Liz Access road mine is swept. At 0741hrs 4-4 ARVN at grid BS827543 made contact with unknown size enemy force, results were 2 NVA KIA, 1 NVA WIA/CIA, 3 packs, 6 hand grenades (US type) CIA. At 0640hrs at grid BS917533 made contact with unknown size enemy force resulting in 5 NVA KIA and 2 carbines CIA, time of 1st contact was 0630hrs. At 0756hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 6 is on station at this time and broke station at 0843hrs. At 1831hrs 1-20 Infantry Naval Gun Fire Box Upper Left BS745630 to coast, Lower left BS770550 to coast, 071800 to 080600hrs 1-20 Infantry (AW), 4 ARVN (Hung), Mo Duc (RK). At 2047hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Bravo 3, Delta 3 and Recon 0 for a total of 6. At 2301hrs Alpha Company LT Waugh inspected bunkers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 found all satisfactory. At 2335hrs Alpha Company LT Sprayberry checked bunker 15, 16, 17, 1, 2 and 3 everything satisfactory. Legend: 1st Platoon 81, 2nd Platoon 83, 3rd Platoon 59, 4th Platoon 88, CO-50.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2301hrs Alpha Company LT Waugh inspected OK and at 2335hrs LT Sprayberry inspected bunker line satisfactory.
Bravo Company
July 7, 1971
Bravo Company continued will continue to use Patrol bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2010hrs Bravo Company has moved into their Night Defense Position with 2nd Platoon with Command Post at BS667524 and 1st Platoon is at BS674512.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company is in Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0710hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS710434 and 1st Platoon is at BS716425 their Patrol Bases. At 1350hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 2 at BS701438. At 1600hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon is at checkpoint 2 at BS717420. At 2008hrs Delta Company all elements in Night Defense Position locations Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS705428, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS703424, 1st Platoon at BS717425 and 1st Platoon ambush at BS717419 with 3 Mechanical Ambush.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1820hrs Recon is moving out to vicinity BS728452. At 1837hrs Recon while moving to their Night Defense Position found at BS754439 a booby trap 155 round, was on a trail, pressure type, was blown in place, it was about 3 days old. At 2130hrs Recon closed on location at BS728452. At 2225hrs Recon request Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with apparent appendicitis Line # C7548, Dust Off 88 completed at 2245hrs (see July 7, 1971 to Chu Lai vicinity of pickup BS728452.
