Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1035hrs 1-20 Infantry Brigade APD Mission #90 in the upper left of BS6951 and the lower right of BS7245 in the Date/Time/grid 080800hrs to 081800hrs was approved by SFC Mason. At 1740hrs Charlie Company and the 26 Engineer reports a total of 80 hours were worked clearing 75 acres in the area BS695584 to BS696586 and BS695584 and BS698580 to BS698582 to BS698584 and BS699575 to BS798573 to BS704572 and BS704573. 26 Engineer reports destroyed 8 bunkers, 75 meters of trench and 3 booby traps, detonated by D7 and all the equipment is operational. At 1800hrs Brigade E Troop request an Area of Operation extension in the area BS720446, BS750520, BS650490, BS710490 and BS720446, with the Date/Time/Grid 080900hrs to 101200hrs for the purpose of Combat Operations was approved by Major Bassett. At 1815hrs TMF String 76 was activated by a stationary target of unknown number and engaged with 16 HE of 105mm Artillery rounds and a Visual Recon Team was requested but none was available. At 1855hrs TMF String 74 was activated by 4 personnel that where moving west to east at 4 miles per hours with metal detected but negative clearance due to an RD Area, A Visual Recon Team was not available.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use multiple saturation patrolling both Day and Night patrolling with some ambushes. Alpha Company turning in to Military Intelligence 6 detainees and also turn over to MACV 300 pounds of Rice, captured from under a haystack.
Bravo Company
August 7, 1970
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with the Access Road.
Charlie Company
August 7, 1970
Charlie Company with RF 116, 146, 937 and RF Platoon 147, 144 and 168 continued their Hamlet Pacification program with security mission for highway 1. Charlie Company used multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation today. At 2130hrs Charlie Company we requests a Urgent Dust Off for 1 PF who shot himself in the foot completed at 2140hrs. At 2150hrs reports that their multiply ambushes are in their locations. At 2230hrs Dust OFF Control reports Dust Off 88 informed us that this is the second time an urgent Dust OFF was called when a routine Dust Off was all that was required. They asked us to talk to the RTO and make sure they are aware of the importance of this matter. Charlie 56 RTO was informed.
Delta Company

At 0600hrs Delta Company reports 36 moving to BS753561, the 24 element is moving to BS740569, the 35 element is moving to BS765560. Also the 52 element is moving to BS752578, the 54 elements is moving to BS742585, the 56 element is moving to BS757588, the 72 element is moving to BS772549, the 74 element is moving to BS752551 and the 75 element is moving to BS767545. At 0645 the Delta Company 75 spotted and engaged at BS766555 two enemies at 200 meters resulting in one VC KIA. He was dressed in black and approximately 25 years of age, he had no ID and his wallet was filled with VC papers. These papers will be extracted to Military Intelligence. At 1322hrs the 75 element has one female detainee, age 37, Name Tung Ti Be. She was wearing a white shirt and black pants and picked up at BS767545, no ID she was evacuated to Military Intelligence. Delta Company is using multiple Day and Night ambushes in their area of operations with multiple day logger positions. At 1720hrs Delta Company the 54 element is at checkpoint 3 at BS754587 and the 72, 42 Night Defense Position is at BS750567. At 2015hrs Delta Company reports multiply ambushes are now in their locations.
Echo Company
August 7, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0320hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 1 for a total expend 98 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0717hrs Recon Platoon the 52 element is at BS779377 and the 54 element is at BS793368. At 2000hrs Recon Platoon reports their locations 52 element ambush is at BS775372 and the 54 ambush is at BS778364.
