Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Custer and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0700hrs S-4 Resupply bird is on station called Rattler 24 tail # 445. At 1320hrs 1-20 Infantry with Charlie Company and Recon Platoon conducts Eagle Flight 1st PZ 1320hrs LZ Custer to BS528586, at 1347hrs 2nd PZ LZ Custer to 2nd LZ 1420hrs at BS403571, 3rd PZ at 1452hrs at BS492577 to 3rd LZ at 1513hrs at BS492577 then 4th PZ at 1555hrs to BS463581 to 4th PZ LZ Custer and 5th PZ at 1925hrs to 5th LZ Custer and closed back and Security Mission continues and Eagle Flight is over, AMC and Lift Ships were released. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97, CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Vanguard at BS512573.
Bravo Company
September 6, 1971
At 0930hrs Bravo Company is moving to BS508577 and at 1345hrs closed on Patrol Base at BS508577. Bravo Company stated he and his element was exhausted by this morning move and at 1620hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon is moving out to BS505578 and closed at 1650hrs on location. At 1700hrs Bravo Company at BS508577 requested a priority Dust Off for 1 US with 103 temperature Turnedi, Doug SP4 and Dust Off was completed at 1705hrs by AMC Bird Hornet 18. At 1935hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon closed on BS508577 and moving into their Night Defense Position at BS507578 at 1753hrs SGT Paul B Maloneaon was attached to 91 Evac Hospital.
Charlie Company

At 0650hrs Delta Company at BS504567 found 3 Punji pits 4 to 6 months old 2’ X 2’ to 3’ 4’ stakes. At 0800hrs Delta Company is moving to their Patrol Base at BS504588. At 1535hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon at BS505573. At 1807hrs Delta Company is moving to their Night Defense position at BS54573. At 1904hrs Delta has closed on their location Night Defense Positions at BS504573 and BS507578.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Custer, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1320hrs 1-20 Infantry with Charlie Company and Recon Platoon conducts Eagle Flight 1st PZ 1320hrs LZ Custer to BS528586, at 1347hrs 2nd PZ LZ Custer to 2nd LZ 1420hrs at BS403571, 3rd PZ at 1452hrs at BS492577 to 3rd LZ at 1513hrs at BS492577 then 4th PZ at 1555hrs to BS463581 to 4th PZ LZ Custer and 5th PZ at 1925 77 to 5th LZ Custer and closed back and Security Mission continues and Eagle Flight is over, AMC and Lift Ships were released.
