Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0055hrs Pelican 24 at 0001hrs at BS737391 have 3 to 5 Stationary Target engaged with 16 HE rounds and at 0048hrs BS744377 at BS744377 has 6 to 8 personnel east negative clearance. At 0110hrs Nighthawk is at BS744377 have 6 to 8 stationary personnel with negative clearance. At 0118hrs Nighthawk at BS745379 has 6 to 8 stationary personnel with negative clearance. At 0150hrs Pelican 24 leaving area so artillery can be fired on BS7437, requested a 3 X 3 received 16 HE rounds 105 Artillery with negative further activation. At 0240 Bravo Company Bunker #20 had steady activity on sensors, Pelican 24 now checking LZ Liz Perimeter, negative findings, returned to Duc Pho at 0258hrs. At 0648hrs Pelican 24 has checked the Access road and reports negative mines detected. At 0850hrs Brigade Road closed from Quang Nghai to LZ Snoopy until 1200hrs. At 0905hrs Alpha Company all element have closed and ready for Pick up for Combat Assault. At 0930hrs S-2 Med Cap set up in Van Truong. At 0931hrs (1-20 Infantry) AMC is on station, Battalion departed LZ Liz for Combat Assault with 7 Lift Ships. At 0955hrs Brigade S-2 Fire Mission jamming recent Military Intelligence reports include fire missions tape recorded and play back at a later date to confused and delay other fire missions. Possibility exists that NVA could use this tactic extensively in near future. Brigade recommends personnel on all levels have been made aware of this jamming technique. At 1045hrs AMC Ship CPT Parker on AMC ship saw 2 males evading.1 was wearing white top and black bottom, had ID card and age 48. 2nd had white top and black bottom, negative ID and age 50. Picked up at BS756567, 1 male was seen throwing unknown object into bushes. Recon is checking out the area at this item. Came out of the area where people were spotted carrying an AK-47 and mortar tube. At 1152hrs 1-20 Infantry Eagle Flight completed, Battalion Commander returned to LZ Liz, had the following PZ and LZ: 1 PZ 0935hrs Recon LZ at BS760603, 2 PZ 0940hrs MACV LZ at BS754593, 3 PZ 1001hrs Alpha LZ Snoopy, 4 PZ 1007hrs Alpha LZ Snoopy, 5 PZ 1016hrs Alpha LZ Snoopy, 6 1027hrs Recon LZ at BS753576, 7 1039hrs MACV LZ BS760572, Broke for fuel, at 1054hrs and returned at 1130hrs 8 PZ 1146hrs MACV LZ Dragon, Eagle Flight is completed and birds released. At 1442hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports Shark 6 on station, setting down on LZ Liz. At 1526hrs Warlord 31 working Box 61, friendly to the east of box but visible in lowlands. Warlords 32 left our frequency after getting clearance for box. At 1530hrs MACV RF 712 at BS716610 received sniper fire resulting in 1 RF KIA. At 1545hrs Helix 34 on station sent to Charlie Company and broke station at 1615hrs. At 1801hrs S-4 Resupply chopper 80A broke station, resupply is completed. At 1955hrs 76C Nui Vong, radar sighting at BS682599, 4 to 5 stationary personnel, with negative clearance due to the proximity of friendly Ville. At 2010hrs 1-20 TOC Blue Ghost 41 on station, on the way to LZ Bronco for fuel, return as completed. At 2100hrs Brigade Commander LRRP Team reports that they witnessed Alpha Company contact and 1 .51 caliber in fighting position on the ridge at BS712455, shooting at sharks, who were supporting Alpha Company. Also saw VC/NVA on north and south of them. Also stated Alpha Company move has forced enemy into highlands into a suspected base camp at BS702452. LRRP extracted from BS714445, cold PZ. Also stated there was a lot of action around grid BS7143 this evening. At 2155hrs Nighthawk Blue Ghost 39, is breaking station on Box #69 with negative findings. At 2208hrs TMF String 61 B Stationary target, metal confirmation, negative clearance, due to proximity of friendly. Legend 1st Platoon 12-18, 2nd Platoon 62-68, 3rd Platoon 82-88, 4th Platoon 32-38 and CO 44.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company conducted another Combat Assault with the first pick up at 1001hrs and last LZ 1020hrs at LZ Snoopy. At 1105hrs Alpha Company was moving out to BS768465. At 1218hrs A Company at BS753455 PF stopped Company and advised that Ville at that location was Booby Trapped. Information was on a cardboard sign more signs are located in the Ville and they will extract a sign today. At 1250hrs Alpha Company elements were resupply, At 1811hrs Alpha Company 82 moving out spotted 48 NVA with weapons and packs at BS721438, they engaged with small arms, requested sharks at 1811hrs, on station at 1820hrs fired artillery into the area check fired because of sharks also fired into BS6842 as a blocking fire. Sharks broke station at 1903hrs for refueling, other blocking fire to the southwest. Sharks sat down on rear pad, ready to go after blocking fires. Alpha Company at 2000hrs using Illumination rounds fired and sweep into the contact area with negative finding except for 1 NVA flashlight, now moving to their Night Defense Position. At 2100hrs LRRP team reported that they witnessed Alpha Company contact, also at the same time they saw 1 .30 cal and 1 .51 cal, shooting at sharks, who were supporting Alpha Company. Also saw VC/NVA on north and south of them. Also stated Alpha Company move forced enemy into highlands into suspected base camp at BS702452.

Charlie Company
November 6, 1970
At 0805hrs Charlie Company 82 element is moving to BS685576, the 12 element to BS645573 and the 62 element is moving to BS664564. At 1015hrs Charlie Company 63 element found 300 pounds of rice in a 70 gallon drum, it was buried and found in a hedgerow. Unpolished and locally grown, in good condition will back haul to Brigade S-5. At 1225hrs Charlie Company at BS657575 the 12 element found 5-55 gal drums full of unpolished rice, appears to be locally grown, and in good condition. Each drum was hidden in the top of family bunker, protected from the weather. Had lids on them, not screw on type, appear to be aluminum, sending 30 rice bags (100 pound) on Resupply will back haul to Brigade S-5. At 1125hrs Charlie Company the 82 element received 4-8 rounds of AK-47 fire from estimated 3 enemies at a distance of 300 meters, enemy evaded to the west where Charlie the 12 element is setting up a blocking force. Pursued and found 3 rucksacks with documents, also 4 US frag on US type pistol belt, 1 pair of binoculars, 1 US Maps, Chi Com grenade, first aid bag, compass, and 1 bandoleer of M-16 ammo and Kit Carson Scout states 1 was a Captain (SEE 1600hrs 8 November 1970). At 1303hrs Charlie Company the 82 element has swept through area of contact and have linked up with the 12 element with negative results, they are returning to the area of contact and checking area again. At 1425hrs Charlie Company in location at BS665577, 44 and 12 elements is at BS660576, the 62 element is at BS665565 and BS662562 found 3 55 gallon, drums full of rice hidden in a hedgerow, rice is unpolished from the last harvest and in good condition. Drums have lids and additional straw and dirt on top of them. Total 900 pounds appears to be aluminum drums. At 1512hrs Charlie Company 12 element is at BS657576 found 3 additional drums full of unpolished rice, locally grown and in good condition. Each drum was hidden in a bunker and well protected from the weather. Drums have lids, no screw on type, appears to be aluminum, 900 pounds in cache. At 1950hrs Charlie Company all elements in their locations Command Post at BS662564, 12 at BS656575, 62 at BS664565, 06 at BS665563 and 85 BS663565. At 2000hrs Charlie Company the 44 element at BS662564 scout dog and tracker dog got into fight, Scout Dog received wound to the neck, and handler request he go in with dog on day 7 November 1970. At 2005hrs Charlie Company CPT Donovan to CPT Parker: Charlie Company Area of Operation there area few hootches, many bunkers but very few people. It appears that people in the area are supplying rice to the NVA. CPT Donovan requests a National Police team to come out and blow up bunkers and burn hootches. CPT Parker replied, why not C/S.

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon 1-20 Eagle Flight conducted Combat Assault at 0949hrs into LZ BS760603. At 1034hrs Recon Element is Combat Assault into LZ at BS753576.
