Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0330hrs LZ Liz Bunker line check # 14 the Guard had no knowledge what to do in case of emergency. # 13 Post was not manned, 4 to 5 people sleeping in bunker, # 9 OK, # 8 OK. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry 051200 the Area of Operation, was approved, from Brigade CPT Cummings approved Area of Operation extension and from 4-21 Infantry VBS. At 2026hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes, Recon has 1, Bravo 7, Delta 0, and Charlie 5 for a total of 13. At 2125hrs To Brigade S-3 from S-3 1-20 Infantry request engineer Officer arrive LZ Liz 07 May to conduct survey of construction materials needed to rebuild and reinforce bunkers. Request for Engineer work submitted previously, need time of arrival of Engineer Officer. At 2220hrs LZ Liz Bunker line check, # 13 had no commo, # 14 did not know password, # 15 was OK, # 4 was OK and # 5 OK. Legend: 1st Platoon 58, 2nd Platoon 16, 3rd Platoon 83, 4th Platoon 42, CO-07.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1107hrs Echo Company 1-20 Infantry at 0915hrs while driving north on highway 1 at 25 miles per hour vicinity BS782433, ¾ ton truck with 3 personnel from Echo Company received 20 to 25 rounds small arms fire from 100 meters to their east. PF in compound nearby (174, 184) returned fire, truck had negative damage and with negative casualties.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Bunker inspections getting better and harder to get a satisfactory. At 0330hrs LZ Liz in Bunker line check, Bunker # 14, Guard, had no knowledge what to do in case of emergency, # 13 Bunker was not manned, 4 to 5 people sleeping in bunker, # 9 OK, # 8 OK. At 1120hrs Americal Division Commander is at LZ Liz. At 2220hrs LZ Liz Bunker line check is getting more often and harder to get it right, # 13 had no commo, # 14 did not know password, # 15 was OK, # 4 was OK and # 5 OK.
Bravo Company

At 0800hrs Bravo Company Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS660528 and 3rd Platoon moving to Patrol Base Vicinity BS681503 and continued their multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1005hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon is moving to BS648524, 3rd Platoon Patrol is moving to BS681499. At 1255hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon patrol has closed on BS681492. At 1849hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon left a Mechanical Ambush in their Patrol Base when the moved out to the Night Defense Position, while moving to their Night Defense Position they heard the Mechanical Ambush detonate and are moving back to check it out. When they reached the site they received 18 to 20 rounds sporadic small arms fire from south approximately 50 to 75 meters, returned fire. Results 1 VC KIA wearing Black on Black and Ho Chi Minh sandals, the other VC evaded south, southwest down the trail, pursued with negative finding. At 2038hrs Bravo Company all elements in Night Defense Positions Command Post and 2nd Platoon and 4th Platoon at BS654527, 3rd Platoon at BS678510 and 1st Platoon at BS695600 with 7 mechanical Ambush out.
Charlie Company

At 0429hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon had a trip flare ignite, they detonated 1 claymore and checked area with negative finding vicinity BS723452. Charlie Company is using Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1753hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon U patrol is moving to BS707448 and 2nd Platoon Q Patrol is moving to BS705449. At 2020hrs Charlie Company all elements in Night Defense Position at BS718461, 3rd Platoon ambush at BS706478, 1st Platoon at BS714412, 1st Platoon ambush at BS713405. Charlie Company 2nd Platoon at BS714412, 1st Platoon ambush at BS713405, 2nd Platoon at BS707448, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS705449 and 2nd Platoon ambush at BS713452 with 5 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

At 1100hrs Delta Company Command Post, 2nd Platoon in Patrol Base BS704483 and at 0725hrs Delta Company 1st and 4th Platoon in Patrol Base at BS703473. Delta Company continued their multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1550hrs Delta Company while on patrol, 3rd Platoon found 1 155 round not booby trap, was very old and rusted and they could not read Lot #, Blew in Place vicinity 708502. At 2015hrs Delta Company all elements in Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS702486, 1st and 4th Platoon at BS706478 and 3rd Platoon vicinity BS708507.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0625hrs Recon is moving to BS656492.
