Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0355hrs 1-20 Infantry reports At 1950hrs Radar sighted 5-6 personnel moving west at BS792368 and at 1950hrs with negative clearance informed Charlie Company. At 2120hrs TMF sighted a number of personnel at BS792368 and engaged with 4 HE of Artillery 105 and at 2140hrs 10 to 15 personnel were sighted moving northeast at BS789413 with negative clearance. At 2210hrs 10 to 15 personnel were sighted moving northeast at BS789439 and engaged with 12 HE of Artillery 105. At 2340hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS758449 engaged with 18 HE of Artillery 105. At 0150hrs spotted 6 to 8 stationary personnel at BS721454 and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 155 and at 0456hrs Radar sighted 4 to 6 stationary personnel at BS739394 and engaged with 8 He of Artillery 105. At 0810hrs Helix 37 is on location and is putting in an Air Strike at BS7145 and BS7246 and at BS718452 with 2 secondary explosions. At 0950hrs 1-20 Infantry reports the Assistant Division Commanding Officer arrived at LZ Liz 1052hrs and left at 1140hrs. At 1040hrs Helix 36 is aiding the gun ships working with Bravo Company and at 1140hrs reports they are aiding Bravo Company 61 in searching the area for the Shark 5 KIA.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and will continue their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
March 6, 1970
At 0718hrs Alpha Company we Request and Urgent Dust Off for one Vietnamese detainee male with gunshot wound to the right side. Alpha Company 63 engaged him when he tried to evade and hide in a camouflaged cloth, he was wearing light green shirt and purple pants, age 25-30, complete 0734hrs grid BS746401. At 0750hrs after further search of the area we found one bag of rice 25 pounds, attached to web gear, one hammock, bush hat and 3 cans of salmon. At 1430hrs Alpha Company TMF security is closing at this time on BS756395. At 1734hrs Alpha Company we are moving in to our Night Defense Position at BS753402.
Bravo Company
March 6, 1970
At 0705hrs Bravo Company in the Combat Assault of the 01 and 21 element the Highway 1 1st PZ was the South Bridge at 0700hrs and LZ was at BS810430 at 0705hrs and the 21 element was the Command Post at 0700hrs and LZ at BS810420 at 0705hrs. Both LZ were cold. Bravo Company Command Post reports a terrorist killed one Vietnamese male who handled the laundry for the Command Post and odd jobs. He was the father of a coke girl at Twin Ville Grid BS783427. At 1040hrs Bravo Company the 61 element at BS781466 encountered an unknown size VC/NVA element. They received about 40 to 50 rounds of incoming small arms fire. The 61 element is now Recon in force. Gun ships are called in and Helix 36 is aiding the gun ships and the results are unknown at this time. Bravo Company in an early report on the 61 contact Shark 5 reports one (1) VC KIA at BS785478. The 61 element picked up fire female Vietnamese detainees, age 25 to 30 with no ID. The 61 element is moving to the area of the KIA at this time. 1-20 Infantry Helix, 36 is on station and will assist Bravo Company 61 element in the search of the area that Shark (5) has his KIA. Bravo Company element found one AK-47 in the location of the contact this morning we found the KIA who was dressed in Black and Blue and about 25 years old, with no ID. At 1405hrs Bravo Company 61 element has closed on the Twin Ville. The 5 females we have were interrogated by the PF/RF and released.
Charlie Company

At 0900hrs Charlie Company request a routine Dust Off for one Vietnamese child with frag wounds to legs. At 1922hrs Charlie Company we are in our Night Defense Position at BS726436, with 01 element at 2150 and setting up snakes locations.
Delta Company
March 6 1970
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2055hrs Delta Company reports the 23 snake is roving from BS758434 to BS765438, the 63 snake is roving from BS765438 to BS771441 and the 03 snake is roving from BS771441 and to BS776444.
Echo Company
March 6, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0617hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Scheduled Fires 8, Observed Missions 6, Defense Targets 2 with total expended 26 HE, 4 WP, 92 Illumination and 13 C/S. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0520hrs Recon Platoon reports we are moving to our blocking position location at BS815429 to BS817417. At 0845hrs Recon Platoon we are now in our blocking position and are moving to our Day Logger at BS818425. At 1950hrs Recon Platoon is moving to their Night Defense Position and by 1950hrs have closed on their Night Defense Position at BS831436 and at 2030hrs 21 is at BS827432 and 21 at BS826422. SP4 Daryl Garrett was attached to 91st Evac Hospital (11C30).
