Headquarters and Headquarter Company
March 6, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0610hrs Security Platoon while searching the area, VCS attempter to evade engaged 1 detainee WIA and CIA.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. 1SGT Richard H. Bonner was attached to the 67th Medical Evac Hospital.

 

Alpha Company
March 6, 1968

Alpha Company is located at LZ Dragon and vicinity BS587852 and Alpha Company was OPCON to 4-3 Infantry to take part in OPERATION SHOW LOW.

 

Bravo Company
March 6, 1968

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 1320hrs Bravo Company reported at BS883317 hit a Punji pit resulting in 6 US WHA 1 man fell into the pit as 5 came to assist him they set off a bobby trap final results 1 KIA and 5 WHA. The Platoon was conducting a Search and Destroy operations. SSGT ABRAHAM K AHUMA see 17 May 1968, SSGT Domingo Domingues, SP4 Douglas W. Lowe, Harold D. Anderson, PFC Richard Prochaska, and PFC Charles Thompson where evac to 67th Evac Hospital (1LT HENRY BROMMANN LISTED AS KHA).

 

Charlie Company
March 6, 1968

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Dottie and using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. Charlie Company will have Night Ambushes vicinity of Dottie at BS632848 and will conduct Local patrols of the vicinity of LZ and had negative contact for the day. The 4-3 Infantry OPERATION SHOW LOW has begun with Bravo Company 4-3 Infantry OPCON back to their parent outfit 4-3 Infantry to their Battalion for the Operation.

 

Delta Company
March 6, 1968

At 0630hrs Delta Company getting men ready for the Combat Assault 2LT CLARENCE A ROUSSELL JR KHA and his RTO PFC Louis Queen WHA moving to get his ambush back into the Platoon area and to be ready for the Combat Assault was hit by a claymore mine. 1st lift 0649hrs last 4th lift Touch Down 0735hrs LZ cold. LZ 0744hrs Delta Company found Punji stake pit 100 meters long and 15’-20’ wide- 1 VC KIA 1 M-26 Hand Grenade CIA. Delta Company is now vicinity BS905297. Delta Found a tunnel and a French bolt action rifle. Delta Company in searching the tunnel engaged 2 possible NVA- results 2 NVA KIA- both wearing uniforms-1 VC CIA, CIA with 1 M-1 carbine S/N 640247, 2 Chi Com Hand Grenade, 1 M-26 Hand Grenade and some blasting caps, misc. web gear, plus 1 AK-47 CIA. Delta Company also detained 4 VCS, at 1645hrs 1-20 Infantry Reports to Delta Company Reference BS905290 Ref: NVA POW. He is Pvt.; a gunsmith works in ordinance. Continued the Search and Sweep operations as Mike Force had set up a blocking force to the South of our Area of Operations. 2LT CLARENCE A ROUSSELL JR IS LISTED AS KIA. WHA PFC Louis J. Queen was evac and attached to 67th Evac Hospital.

 

Echo Company
March 6, 1968

Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 1510hrs Recon Platoon and the 1st Platoon Delta Company are located at BS886329 working the area with Recon Blocking and 1st Platoon Search and Destroy Operations in their Area of Operations.
