Headquarters and Headquarter Company
July 6, 1968
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0937hrs Charlie Company 19th Engineers found a mine crater at BS916247 possibly command detonated. Probed and cleared hole, found small tunnel leading to side of road, probably used for wires. Crater 3’ wide X 1 ˝’ deep and approximately 4’ from west shoulder of road.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. SP4 James R. Robinson was sick and attached to 6th Convalescent.
Alpha Company
July 6, 1968
At 0805hrs Alpha Company is located at BS788305. At 1200hrs Alpha Company reports their location at BS795304. At 1900hrs Alpha Company established their Night Defense Position at BS790303, 10 BS786302, 20 BS798300 and 30 BS794307.
Bravo Company
July 6, 1968
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder. At 0805hrs Bravo Company is at BS858350. At 0915hrs Bravo Company is at BS841351 detained 1 VCS male was found in hootch and didn’t want to come out. At 1057hrs Bravo Company is at BS860362 received sniper fire from southeast moving into area and will have Command and Control Helicopter checking area now. At 1115hrs Bravo Company at BS859350 moving into area observed 4 individuals evading results engaged with small arms fire 2 stopped CIA, dressed in black white shirt, 20-25 had ID cards will evac to Military Intelligence and still working area. At 1815hrs Bravo 10 Night Defense Position is at BS855384, 11 BSBS851375, 20 and 30 at Thunder, 21 on Bridge at BS813363.
Charlie Company
July 6, 1968
At 0805hrs Charlie Company is located at BS883236 and by 1200hrs has moved to BS893251. At 1815hrs Charlie Company in their Night Defense Position with ambushes at BS882275, BS887268 and BS880264.
Delta Company
July 6, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown and at 0957hrs Delta Company at BS922162 found a booby trapped M-26 grenade in tree with fishing line across trail will destroy in place. At 1815hrs Delta Company will have ambushes at BS926145, BS925154, BS938228 and BS935231.
Echo Company
July 6, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0957hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS485516. At 1155hrs Recon Platoon closed on Special Forces Camp at Minh Long.
