Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with and Support for the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0900hrs Helix 33 FAC Air Strike going into grid BS712406. At 1540hrs S-3 to S-4 have 12 40 pound shaped charges ready for pick up at Bud Pad at 0700 tomorrow. Charges will be uncrated before pick up. At 1610hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer at BS745329 received 3 sniper rounds with no casualties or damage. At 1850hrs sensors on LZ Liz, is increasing activation at sensors 22 and 14. Delta Company OPCON to 4-21 Infantry and B 4-21 is OPCON to 1-20 Infantry which has the Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. S-4 Shop has to get 14 40 pound shape charges, ready for pick up at Bud Pad at 0700hrs at Bud Pad tomorrow received message at 1540hrs.
Alpha Company

At 0650hrs Alpha Company reports 54 element’s snake, has closed on LZ Liz at this time. At 1920hrs our 74 snake is in position at these time. Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Bravo Company
October 5, 1969
At 0640hrs Bravo Company our ranger element is moving out to check grid BS776407, where 1 company of NVA were supposed to be located. At 0650hrs Bravo Company we are moving into our Day Logger (BS787427) at this time. At 0805hrs the Ranger team engaged 15 VC at BS781407 the VC got up and ran away. One VC was wearing black shorts and had an AK-47 one VC was dressed in a green uniform. The Rangers are now putting the red legs into the area. At 0852hrs the Ranger team and the 54 element have linked up and making a sweep of BS781407. At 0925hrs Bravo Company has a Dust Off requested routine for the 52 element has 2 Vietnamese Kids age 4 and 8, who have been injured by friendly frags wounds are about 2 days old. The mothers are with the kids and request to ride in to Duc Pho, completed at 1947hrs. At 0955hrs Bravo Company Ranger team and the 54 element are moving back to the Red Ball. The 32 element is now on day patrol. At 1530hrs Bravo Company the Ranger snake will have 5 ARVN with it tonight and tomorrow the ARVN on the South Bridge will send 10 ARVN to BS779423 as a blocking force for the 82 element which will sweep through the area of BS782460 then sweep back to the South Bridge.
Charlie Company

At 0745hrs Charlie Company 1st PZ and last LZ at 0935hrs Charlie Company is going to Chu Lai for Stand Down.
Delta Company

Delta Company still OPCON to 4-21 Infantry Delta Company is using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operations and move into their Night Defense Position at BS828248.
Echo Company
October 5, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. 4.2 Platoon reports Schedule fires 5, Observe Mission 2, unobserved Missions 2 total expend 44 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0627hrs Recon Platoon we are moving out of our snake location and at 0800hrs report our location at BS717433. Recon Platoon at we are moving and at 1512hrs Recon Platoon reports snake location for tonight is BS723496.
