Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0125hrs Star track 7 on station from LZ Bronco to check out Radar sighting at BS708428, radar originally reported approximately 10 personnel and then increased the reading to 15 to 20, seemed stationary and working. At 0125hrs Star track 7 on station with chase ship and 2 sharks, had negative contact with birds until 0135hrs Birds had moved to contact area, 0216hrs birds left the area and broke station with negative findings. At 0217hrs Artillery fire mission put into the target area, radar still have a target in 3 small groups at 0315hrs end of Fire Mission, expended 72 rounds HE rounds105mm Artillery and 4.2 Mortar will fire Illumination every ½ hour until dawn. Radar still observing the target area and Recon Platoon will check it out in morning. At 0620hrs Recon 03 is moving out to check area of Artillery and Radar Target. At 0630hrs 1-20 Infantry AMC ship on station for Combat Assault for Charlie Company and at 0700hrs Battalion Commander departed LZ Liz in AMC for Combat Assault, 1 PZ 0700hrs Charlie 12 PZ at BS662715 LZ 0720hrs, 2 Charlie 83-32 PZ 0725hrs LZ 0730hrs and Combat Assault is completed at 0745hrs birds are released. 1-20 Infantry requests Area of Operation extension Date/Time/Grid 060600hrs to 082400hrs from BS637570 west to BS630570 south to BS630570 south to BS6352 east to BS7052 north to BS704552 with Purpose Combat Operations of Alpha Company and Charlie Company. At 1010hrs Brigade Area of Operation Extension requests for the 4 ARVN Regiment ¼ and 4/4 Battalion Date/Time/Grid 060800hrs to 081800hrs from BS745539 to BS784560 to BS760645 to BS712625 to start, disapproved CPT Parker. At 1105hrs Warlord on station to work box 168 center of mass negative friendly in the area. At 1300hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC reports Primo 3 is on station for approximately 1 hour for Visual Recon. At 1400hrs Primo 3 is breaking station at this time. At 1445hrs brigade Tropical Storm Marge is 675 nautical miles east of Da Nang to hit land between Da Nang and Chu Lai. By 070700hrs November 1970, maximum winds of 35 knots, and gusts up 45 knots. Rainfall in mountains 8 to 12 inches and 4 to 6 inches on the coast notified all elements passed to Pacer Rear. At 1530hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Warlord 8 on station to check out following grids BS6937 and BS695375 requested permission to Recon by Fire, permission granted CPT Parker, 1553hrs checked out the area, very heavy vegetation, few cleared areas, no well used trails, several stream beds which could be used as trails. At 1833hrs 76C radar at Nui Vong, IOS spotted 1 VC with pack and weapon at BS682594 moving to the southwest, requested Artillery, 1 round of 105mm shot, IOS reports negative findings. At 1855hrs 76C at Nui Vong spotted 1 light at the base of the mountains at BS665560, requested fire mission, negative clearance due to the proximity of friendly. At 1919hrs brigade notified that highway 1 will be closed daily from 1700hrs to 0700hrs between Chu Lai and Snoopy for indefinite period, Engineers are repairing a bridge at Tu Hghia rear area notified at 1920hrs. At 2151hrs 76C Radar station at Nui Vong, Radar sighting at BS683585 with Artillery working up fire Mission at this time. At 2211hrs Brigade Area of Operation extension request for 4-4 Battalion 4 ARVN Date/Time/Grid 060600hrs to 0701800hrs from BS7263 to BS7663 to BS7260 to BS7660, disapproved 06 November, approved for 07 November AEP III 0127hrs Extension designated B-99 for the 7th. At 2300hrs to Nighthawk at 2300hrs Pelican 24 on station, and working box 68 and at 2400hrs breaking station for fuel. Legend 1st Platoon 12-18, 2nd Platoon 62-68, 3rd Platoon 82-88, 4th Platoon 32-38 and CO 44.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 1919hrs brigade notified that highway 1 will be closed daily from 1700hrs to 0700hrs between Chu Lai and Snoopy for indefinite period, Engineers are repairing a bridge at Tu Nghia rear area notified at 1920hrs.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company used Patrolling and Sweeping Operations in their Area of Operation. At 1900hrs Alpha Company elements locations 44, 62 and 36 at BS651590, the 82 element at BS667595 and the 87 element is at BS663577.
Bravo Company
November 5, 1970
At 1235hrs Bravo Company road security at BS777456 requested Urgent Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese female who was struck by a US or ARVN truck. She sustained 2 large head wounds and is unconscious; road security did not witness accident, but did see a truck drive away, and Dust Off completed at 1250hrs. Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
Charlie Company

At Charlie Company Combat Assault 1st LZ 0720hrs and 2nd LZ 0730hrs completed at 0745hrs. At 0815hrs Charlie Company had the Resupply bird Dust Off 1 US who cut his ear while departing helicopter during Combat Assault 1LT Hrynkienich. At 0830hrs Charlie Company 44 element found 300 pounds of rice buried underground in area of their LZ at BS662562, it was locally grown wrapped in plastic bags, and unpolished, request rice bags on resupply. At 0905hrs Charlie Company 62 spotted 6 enemies with packs with weapons, dress all in black, engaged with small arms fire as they evaded to the southeast and Helix 31 is on station to help. At 1015hrs Artillery shifted and element moved into target area, Helix 34 on station to assist. At 1105hrs the 82 element found a tunnel, dropped CS and smoke into it, checked it out found 19 year of age dead female dressed in black pajamas, no frag or small arms employed. Kit Carson Scout stated that the papers found on her body identified her VC also found 1500 pounds of rice at the same location also the 2 rucksacks had clothes and poncho inside. At 1130hrs Charlie Company 62 element found blood trail at area of 1st contact at BS6635, they were pursuing the enemy, and did not stop to check out the area at the time, but did find 1 pair of tongs. Have the 12 element is checking the area at this time, requesting a tracker team at this time for blood trail. At 1133hrs informed by CPT Jones that tracker team would be out in 15 to 20 minutes, tracker team inserted at 1204hrs. At 1150hrs Charlie Company Kit Carson Scout and interpreter going through paperwork say female KIA was from the 141/18 Local Force Company. Same papers had songs and poems, 1 document tells the VC to draft children, bring them to the mountains, and train them as VC and 2 children reported spotting for the VC, Name of Female KIA is Hguyeis Thi Diew. She was responsible for recruiting and training young children as VC, along with 2,000 of unpolished rice in good condition and this year’s harvest. At 1238hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 33 is on station sent to work out with Charlie Company. At 1230hrs Charlie Company 15 element at BS660564 requests routine Dust Off for 1 Vietnamese child 18 month old, has punctured ear drums, injury does no appear recent, completed at 1305hrs, mother accompanied baby. At 1822hrs Charlie Company at BS663561 have 2,000 pounds of rice bagged, need 10 additional bags to take care of balance of the rice. All rice is unpolished, good condition and appears to be this year harvest. At 1902hrs Charlie Company 82, 44 and 32 in location at BS663566. At 1934hrs Charlie Company the 12 element in location at BS659555, the 14 element at BS654565 and the Charlie Company the 86 element is now in location at BS659572. At 1940hrs Charlie Company the 62 element in location at BS662562 and 65 in location at BS664557.

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0620hrs Recon 03 is moving out to check area of Artillery and Radar Target. At 0800hrs Recon Platoon closed on LZ Liz.
