Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0028hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Targets sighted 6 to 8 stationary personnel at BS731469 and Alpha Company was informed. At 0100hrs Radar sighted 3 to 5 stationary personnel at BS739454 and Alpha Company was informed. At 0235hrs Radar sighted 10 to 15 personnel moving east at BS738435 with Alpha Company informed. At 0420hrs Radar at 2015hrs 10-20 stationary personnel were sighted at BS800446 and engaged with 12 HE and 16 firecrackers rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 0430hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS778466 with MACV Mo Duc informed. Radar Targets which were not engaged and to be listed separately. At 0905hrs MACV Mo Duc results from the contact this morning are 2 VC KIA and 1 VC female CIA with no weapons CIA. At 1925hrs MACV Mo Duc in the operation with the RF and PF today they got 2 VC KIA, 1 VC CIA, 1 M-16, 1 M-2 carbine CIA and some documents off 1 KIA, 1 was a finance officer for the VC and we found 10,000 piasters on him.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. PFC Ronald W. Mosses (Medic) FW right arm where evac to 91st Evac Hospital see Bravo Company.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is using Multiple Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1236hrs Alpha Company request a routine dust off for one US with frag rounds on the left arm resulting from a fire, which detonated a hand frag and some M-16 ammo. The fire was start by some Vietnamese children, because they were angry at a GI for not buying a coke. Names (Moss) grid BS727459 completed at 1243hrs. At 1850hrs Alpha Company 34 moves into their Night Defense Position at BS745468, and 31, 94 are at BS728446 with 74 at BS710436.
Bravo Company

At 0620hrs Bravo Company 36 element is moving to BS780390 for final extraction security. At 0707hrs Bravo Company we request an urgent Dust Off for three US with multiple frag wounds from a booby trap at BS788443 and we also have one US KHA. The 74 element was walking point, hit a booby trapped hand frag with a trip wire attached and 74 received frag wounds to the legs. The 31 element was moving up to the Bravo Company 74 element location and hit another booby trap hand frag with trip wire attached. The Company Commander was carrying explosives and blasting caps when, the booby trap hand frag went off causing a secondary explosion, the CO and two US WIA as a result Line # of the injured personnel are 27, 87, 127. The CO was carrying 5 pounds of TNT, 4-6 blasting caps and some time fuse and detonation cord, the Dust Off completed at 0737hrs. At 0800hrs Bravo Company at BS790445 we found an 8" round and requested an EOD team to blow it. The Bravo Company Commander CAPTAIN ANDREW ZBIGNIEW LISOWSKI LISTED AS KHA at Duc Pho GRP. Bravo Company reports that SGT Darold D. Marcus FX Left Tibia with multiple frag wounds both legs, SP4 Larry J. Ogden with multiple frag wounds to head, chest and abdomen and PFC Richard S. Pina multiple frag wounds to back right hand and both buttocks and PFC Ronald W. Mosses (Medic) FW right arm where evac to 91st Evac Hospital. Also believe PFC Bill Wilson Delta Battery 6-11 Artillery with lacerations and broken left hand treaded at B 23 Medical and Bravo Company reports PFC Bobby J. Nelson with frag wounds to chest treated in the field.
Charlie Company

At 0625 Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault with Recon Platoon to LZ BS760568, BS753580, to BS763580, BS759565 and BS756568 with 1st PZ at 0625hrs and last LZ at 0810hrs. At 0855hrs Charlie 54 element made contact with 8 to 10 (VC/NVA) at BS762468 they evaded to the southeast. No US wounded with negative results on contact. The personnel had weapons and packs and received heavy small arms fire and they returned fire, the VC where 200 to 300 meters away when the contact first engaged. At 1045hrs Charlie Company the elements passed phase line blue and are moving to objective 3. At 1115hrs Charlie Company the 31 element at the western end of the phase line blue at BS778567 is sweeping east to link up with the 54 element. The 54 element had engaged 2 VC with weapons with no return fire and negative findings. The 31 element is trying to block the VC between himself and the 54 element. The 74 element should link up with the 94 element who is sweeping south. Recon is at phase line read at BS765535 and has 250 to 300 detainees. MACV reported 10 to 20 VC evading from objective area 3 toward the beach at BS780568. We are calling in artillery fire at this time, the VC were engaged with negative finding. At 1145hrs MACV Mo Duc the PRU checked out 150 of the detainees and kept 20 as suspects. At 1710hrs Charlie Company as the 74 element was approaching the Red Ball for extraction they received several round of sniper fire from their east, we returned fire with negative findings at grid BS765482. At 1900hrs Charlie Company elements move to their Night Defense Position at BS793381 and snakes are in or moving to planned snakes.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1925hrs Delta Company the 36, 76 and 56 elements are providing security on the access road and the 77 element is moving to BS765410.
Echo Company
May 5, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0621hrs Charlie Company and Recon Platoon conducts Combat Assault. Recon was picked up from MACV Mo Duc to BS753585 and BS755590 and Charlie Company to BS760586 to BS755575 to BS763580 to BS759565 and to BS756568. The 1st PZ was 0625hrs and the 4th LZ was at 0810hrs. At 1032hrs Recon Platoon the 54 element has 1 VC KIA, 25 to 30 years old and dressed in black shorts and shirt. He was hiding in a hedgerow and evaded when he saw the US. The 54 element shot several warning shots in the air with negative results so we engaged him with a KIA being the result. The VC had documents saying he collects money for rice for the VC, negative weapons was found at grid BS762580. Recon is at phase line read at BS765535 and has 250 to 300 detainees. MACV reported 10 to 20 VC evading from objective area 3 toward the beach at BS780568. We are calling in artillery fire at this time, the VC were engaged with negative finding. At 1145hrs MACV Mo Duc the PRU checked out 150 of the detainees and kept 20 as suspects. At 1605hrs Recon Platoon has closed on LZ Liz and their Security Mission for LZ Liz.
