Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0050hrs LATE SPOT MACV Duc Pho, at vicinity BS911264 on 041330hrs a civilian car coming from Da Nang received sniper fire from unknown size enemy force, results were 1 civilian WIA. At 0800hrs RF 172 vicinity BS753572 requests priority Dust Off for 1 RF with multiple frag wounds from incoming 60mm mortar rounds. At 0927hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 2 is on station at this time and is breaking station at 1005hrs. At 1700hrs LZ Liz Access Road confiscated approximately 5 pounds of marijuana off a truck. At 1800hrs RF 172 at 1140hrs vicinity BS753574, RF received sniper fire from 400 meters to their east Dust Off bird also received 1 round of sniper fire. At 0805hrs LATE SPOT MACV Mo Duc on 041801hrs vicinity BS742645 3 civilians detonated an unknown type of booby trap results were 1 KIA and 2 WIA. At 1930hrs 1-20 Infantry requested Area of Operation Box Bravo Company BS6554 to BS6854 to BS6853 to BS7153 to BS7150 to BS6650 to BS6551 to start. Mo Duc (WW), Brigade (RKC), 4 ARVN (LT DE), 3-1 Infantry (SM), NH (NKH), Bravo Company Area of Operation extension Upper Left BS6454, Lower Right BS6552, Mo Duc (WW), 4 ARVN (HOANG), Brigade (RKC), 3-1 Infantry (SM) and NH (NKH). At 2200hrs RF 103 at 2000hrs vicinity BS772452 while on ambush made contact with unknown size VC elements, results were no friendly and 18 enemy KIA. Also CIA 3 AK 47, 1 carbine, 1 M-16, 10 sandbags of polish rice, 5 pair Black pajamas, fired from LZ Liz 9 105 Illumination and 9 4.2 Illumination not US confirmed at this time. Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is at Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security.
Charlie Company
July 5, 1971
Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operations. At 0725hrs Charlie Company Command Post and 1st Platoon is moving out to their Patrol Base vicinity BS695528. At 0750hrs Charlie Company called Urgent Dust Off for 2 US vicinity BS696529, Line # 272 Hyde, Joseph E4, and 273 Rey, Richard E-3 had multiple frag wounds from booby trap it was a can of Petna trip wire located on Route 578. At 1910hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon and Command Post moving into Night Defense Position at BS699528. SP4 Richard R. Rey was evac to 91st Evac Hospital.
Delta Company

Delta Company still has Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1300hrs Delta Company driver found one VC WIA by his own booby trap at BS791496. The VC, he was 50 years old and wearing black pajamas. The VC was Dust Off to 23rd Medical at 1330hrs.
Echo Company
July 5, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon has arrived in Chu Lai for their Stand Down.
