Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0630hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP located at BS699429, spotted 18 VC moving down trail, with packs and weapons, called artillery with negative assessment.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.

Bravo Company
January 5, 1969
Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0950hrs Bravo Company at BS796468 detained 2 VC suspects for questioning and at BS803462 detained 2 more VC for questioning. At 1425hrs Bravo at 796485 detained 1 VC suspect for questioning. At 1607hrs Bravo Company are in their Night Defense Position at 817472. At 1645hrs Bravo Company on bridge 124 small Vietnamese boy told them that holes they had dug were booby trap, they threw hand grenades in the holes resulting in 1 secondary explosion. At 1710hrs 1-20 Infantry reports SRRP locations A SRRP at BS712504, moving Johnny at BS875294 and D at BS913172.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz with 41 at BS735397 and the 81 element is leaving. At 1910hrs the 41 element has snake at BS738402.
Delta Company
January 5, 1969
Delta Company is working out of LZ Dragon with multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation 31 at BS714505, 32 BS720510, 33 BS719517, and 91 with tracks. At 1035hrs Delta Company at BS799488 received small arms fire, negative casualties and return fire and results 1 VC suspect WIA CIA. At 1110hrs Delta Company at BS77526 engaged 1 VC evading results I VC Suspect WIA CIA. At 1125 E Troop 1 Cav has 2nd Platoon at BS199788 received AK-47 small arms fire returned results is 3 CIA VCS. At 1607hrs Delta Company on Liz Dragon with 31 element snake is at 714507.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon continued their Security Mission for the Battalion.
