G-3 Ops acknowledgment of msg #040825 concerning cease fire.  Notify: 11th Bde, CPT Phillips.  There were no 1/20th Inf. Bn. casualties reported in the Division Casualty report for February 5, 1970.

Bravo Company
February 5, 1970

Bravo Company at 0850 hours at BS775390 received 15xrounds of small arms fire with no casualties or damage.  Artillery fired and swept the area with negative results.  Bravo Company at 1825hours at BS785440 while returning to night laager received heavy small arms fire from 200 meters south of their location with no casualties or damage.  (Related entry: Add; Friendly location BS785400engaged with artillery and swept the area.  Detained 1 Vietnamese male age 40.  Will evacuate to Bronco.  notified III MAF, SSG Stabbs at 1930 Hours.  Bravo Company and Popular Forces platoon #183 at BS776446 at 1804 hours received small arms fire inside the Night Defensive Position.  Observed enemy evading into village, engaged with Small Arms Fire.  Received 2 M-79 rounds with no casualties or damage.  Swept the area with negative results.  Notified SSG Stabbs of III Marine Amphibious Force at 1935 hours.  Bravo Company at BS778445 at 2255H, received 2-3 rounds of small arms fire from East.  No casualties or damage.  Notify Capt. Cassino at III Marine Amphibious Force at 0020 hours.  Bravo Company at BS780430 at 2025 hours.  While moving to their defensive ambush met unknown size enemy force of VC.  Result Small Arms Fire.  Engaged with Small Arms Fire.   Results: 1 VC KIA.  Other VC evaded into the woodline.  1 female detained was wounded by unknown source of fire.  Return to check out the area with negative results.  Dust off completed at 2050 hours to LZ Bronco.   Notified Sgt Weston at 2200H. (Related entries:  26th Engineers at 0835 hours February 6, 1970 reported one Vietnamese body on highway 1 at BS792412 at 0835 hours.  Notified Convoy control.  Body was identified as the VC KIA by B 1/20 last night.    

 

Charlie Company
February 5, 1970

Charlie Company Enemy location BS747392 at 1920 hours, 1 platoon moving to ambush position outside Night Defensive position observed 12-15 VC with packs and weapons.  Engaged with small arms fire and swept area with negative results.  Notify: SGT Weston at III MAF at 2000H.

Echo Company: R 1/20 at BS809442 at 1400 hours.  Detained 3 x Vietnamese females with negative ID.  They were carrying enough food for approx 30 people.  Extracted to LZ Bronco.  R 1/20 at BS839410 at 1705H.  Observed 8-10 x VC/NVA moving W. Eng. w/arty w/unk results.
