Forward Area: (1-20 Infantry Headquarters) is located at LZ Liz and will continue to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0034hrs Q Company Radar sighting vicinity BS673599, 2 to 3 personnel moving to the northwest, fire mission requested and engaged with 19 HE rounds 105mm Artillery. At 0045hrs Blue Ghost Black is on station, request clearance for Box 69, Cleared LT Lewis, broke station at 0057hrs to refuel and also requested clearance for Box 67, cleared LT Lewis, 0110hrs Blue Ghost Black on station checking Box 67 with negative findings, broke station at 0130hrs. At 0600hrs Brigade Weather forecast: Cloudy with occasional rain showers, wind southwest to North Northwest to North 10 to 15 knots temperature 76 to 72 with humidity 95 to 75, outlook through Monday little chance. At 0750hrs Primo 6 is on station for Command and Control Helicopter. At 0945hrs S-4 Dolphin 543 is on station for Resupply. At 1015hrs Helix 37 is on station, going to check out the area vicinity BS732598. At 2305hrs Blue Ghost Black is on station, request clearance Box 69, cleared LT Lewis, broke station after having negative findings. Back on station at 2145hrs request clearance for Box 37 cleared LT Lewis, broke station at 2219hrs with negative findings in Box 67. Q Company Radar sighting vicinity BS726428, 10 to 15 personnel where moving north, request fire mission and engaged at 2302hrs with 12 HE rounds105mm Artillery. At 2317hrs Blue Ghost Black is on station, South OP spotted 3 personnel 300 meters to their West vicinity BS746424. Blue Ghost moved into the target area, and engaged at 2326hrs, checked the area and broke for fuel at 2335hrs will come back to insert 15 men from Recon Platoon to check the area out continue Firing 81mm Illumination at 2345hrs and Direct Fire from the 105mm Artillery at 2345hrs. Blue Ghost black is on station again at 2400hrs and chase ship on station. LZ Liz picking up 1st lift of Recon at 0005hrs inserted at 0010hrs and second lift is inserted at 0021hrs Recon Platoon is checking the area now. Legend: 1st Platoon 02-07, 2nd Platoon 92-97, 3rd Platoon 52-57, 4th Platoon 42-47 and CO 08.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is again using Patrol Bases and Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0740hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon Patrol Base vicinity BS753572 and 2nd Platoon patrol is moving out for BS765577. At 1000hrs Alpha Company Command Post, 4th Platoon vicinity of BS740577 detained 4 Vietnamese males and 8 Vietnamese females. At 1837hrs Alpha Company Command Post 4th Platoon BS748557 with 2nd Platoon BS750573, ambush BS752568, 3rd Platoon BS761548, ambush BS765549 and 1st Platoon BS747563.
Bravo Company

At 0810hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon is at BS687562, Command Post is at BS667547, 1st Platoon is at BS673554 and the 2nd Platoon is at BS663555. At 1130hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS616556 on hill 26, located 40 tunnels, each approximately 5’ high and 4’ wide all were about 10 feet underground. Also they found 2 bunkers, that where 10’ X 10’ and there was food growing all around the entrance and a well in the area. The 2nd Platoon is now calling in Artillery (155mm) will check for destruction after the mission. They checked for destruction after and found 15 of tunnels destroyed, they will destroy the rest tomorrow. At 1210hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon while searching the foot hills vicinity BS670541, found 2 rock caves, near the entrance to both caves, near the entrance to both caves they found 2 booby traps with trip wire release, both where destroyed in place. At 1215hrs Bravo Company 4th Platoon vicinity BS667548 continued the search of the caves and enemy sleeping positions, they also found 1 rock cave being used as a small rice mill. Inside the cave they found a grinding machine and 300 pounds of unpolished rice in good condition. The 4th Platoon destroyed machine and rice. At 1855hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon vicinity BS660565 found a hamlet not shown on a map with 70 inhabitants and 20 hootches, and they found tunnel system underneath some of the hootches, and they have destroyed them. In the tunnels they found 4-500 pounds of unpolished Rice, in good condition. Also have 1 male detainee, 40 and wearing all white, negative ID will extract to Mo Duc tomorrow the rice was already destroyed. Bravo again had multiple ambushes in the 515 highway.
Charlie Company

At 0750hrs Charlie Company Command Post, 1st, 2nd, 4th Platoon is located at BS738618, 3rd Platoon at BS758621. At 1110hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS738618 detained 2 Vietnamese females who were picked out of a group moving to the rice fields. The Phoung Home Team wants to have them questioned were sent in back haul. At 1145hrs 1st Platoon found a tunnel with 2 camouflaged entrances, 30 meters apart. The tunnel was last used 7-10 days ago, and it was destroyed in place. At 1220hrs Helix 37 and Charlie Company in the vicinity BS739598, BS740598, Helix reports Air Strike destroyed all but about 20 meters of trench, saw 1 KBA by Air strikes. Also 2 large bunkers, low level VR of age conducted at 1600hrs revealed 2 destroyed bunkers, 1 tunnel (5’ diameters) uncovered and still smoking, for a total of 4 trenches and 4 fighting positions destroyed and pieces of scattered clothing and flesh throughout the opening to the tunnel. At 1755hrs Charlie Company all patrols closed on BS738618. At 1855hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon vicinity BS733615 found a can with shrapnel in it and an M-79 round nearby. It was inside of a hootch and the element believes these items were being prepared as a booby trap, destroyed all items in place before moving into their Night Defense Position. At 1935hrs Charlie Company Command Post, 1st Platoon, 2nd Platoon and 4th Platoon is at BS738618. 1st Platoon ambush at BS738609, 3rd Platoon is at BS758619 and 2nd Platoon ambush is at BS730611.
Delta Company

Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry. At 2317hrs Blue Ghost Black is on station, South OP spotted 3 personnel 300 meters to their West vicinity BS746424. Blue Ghost moved into the target area, and engaged at 2326hrs, checked the area and broke for fuel at 2335hrs will come back to insert 15 men from Recon Platoon to check the area out also Firing 81mm Illumination at 2345hrs with Direct Fire from the 105mm Artillery at 2345hrs.
