Headquarters and Headquarter Company
September 4, 1971
Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Custer and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0845hrs S-4 resupply bird is on station Dolphin #10 tail # 572. At 1135hrs 1-20 Infantry reports General McDonugh arrived at LZ Custer wanted to know why we are deployed in such a fashion why we are no on the high ground. Also talked to individual solders wanted to know how 1-20 Infantry was set up. At 1610hrs Helix 39 is on station and breaking station at 1625hrs. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97 and CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
September 4, 1971
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Custer. At 1105hrs General (McDonug?) arrived at LZ Custer, wanted to know why we deployed in such a fashion, why we are not on the high ground. Alpha Company continued their Security Mission and setting up LZ Custer defense perimeter.
Bravo Company
September 4, 1971
Bravo Company Recon Platoon has moved out to LZ Custer and 1-20 Infantry reports General Mc Donugl arrived at LZ Custer wanted to know why we are deployed in such a fashion, why we are not on the high ground. Also talked to individuals and wanted to know how 1-20 Infantry was set up. At 1230hrs Bravo Company Bravo Company has moved out to BS505573. At 1620hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon is moving to BS507574 and closed on their Night Defense Position at 1805hrs.
Charlie Company

At 1145hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon and Command Post moved out to LZ Custer and at 1215hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon move out to LZ Custer to take over the Security Mission for LZ Custer.
Delta Company
September 4, 1971
Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault with the 1st PZ at 0710hrs and last LZ was at 0824hrs. Bravo Company 1st PZ at 0734hrs and Last LZ was at 0834hrs and takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1504hrs Delta Company reports their Patrol Base at BS661476. At 1921hrs Delta Company established their Night Defense Position at BS656475 with 1 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company
September 4, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Custer, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
