Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0627hrs Command Message passed on to Companies (Always maintain all around Security). At 0805hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at BS758488 road sweep team found 35 pounds mine with pressure type firing device in center of road, destroy in place (Info only). At 1015hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at Bs794404 mine sweep found 15-20 pounds mine and destroyed in place. At 1020hrs Charlie Company 39 Engineer at BS795405 while sweeping road south found 15 pound powder explosive with bamboo pressure type elect firing device, destroyed in place (info only).
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 2050hrs LZ Bronco PP/SI-5 at 1958hrs at BS843386 picked up 5 persons and engaged with 9 rounds of 105mm Artillery direct fire, 18 rounds of 81mm Mortar and 6 rounds Artillery.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1952hrs Alpha Company saw some movement in front of Bunker 16 and a claymore was blown, we are checking results now.
Bravo Company
September 4, 1969
At 0610hrs Bravo Company 92 element is now starting their Recon in Force Operation. At 0755hrs Bravo Company location is at BS778449 which they will use as a Day Logger with multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0825hrs Bravo Company 92 element closed on the Night Defense Position and the 64 element closed on bridge and the 67 element is still on bridge. At 1315hrs Bravo Company the 63 snake at grid BS793410 and at 0400hrs moved to grid BS973453. At 1640hrs Bravo 92 element is leaving Day Logger to make a Recon for tonight snake and at 1825hrs 92 closed on Day Logger. At 1847hrs Bravo Company is moving out to the Night Defense Position. At 1928hrs at BS771461, North Bridge received AK fire from northeast, 300 meters out, negative casualties or damage also took 4 to 5 RPG rounds. At 1930hrs Bravo Company is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS777443, with 33 at BS773454, 67 at BS765435, 64 at BS765455, 63 at BS793410 and at BS797403. At 2350hrs Bravo Company we have some movement approximately 50 to 75 meters outside our perimeter will call later if we have any further movement.
Charlie Company

At 0630hrs Charlie Company reports having problems with new PRC-77, at 0848hrs Charlie Company reports all elements at Night Defense Location at BS745417. At 0930hrs Charlie Company our 32 and 92 elements just left our Day Logger. Charlie Company at 0755hrs are at BS743453 and by 1005hrs Charlie Company moved to BS733453 and at 1015hrs requested Dust Off for a Vietnamese child with multiple frag wounds in legs, and Dust Off completed at 1010hrs vicinity BS722448. At 1410hrs Charlie Company plans Night Defense Position will be BS741467, with snake 64 at BS744465 and the 67 at BS734465. Plans in advance for tomorrow day 5 Day Logger will be same as Night Defense Position with the 32 element conducting a Recon in Force to BS737452 with a Recon in Force the 92 element to BS750460. A 2050hrs Charlie Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at BS740465, 64 at BS744465, and 67 at BS734465.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1030hrs Alpha Company PZ 0945hra and LZ at 1020hrs and Delta Company PZ at 0940hrs and LZ was 1014hrs completed and cold LZ at BS728558. At 1350hrs Delta Company at BS728558 picked up one VCS male age 18 or 19, negative ID carrying a frag grenade. At 1800hrs Delta Company at BS739551 and at 2050hrs Delta Company moved into their Night Defense Position at BS729551. At 1900hrs Reference spot report from Delta Company 1350hrs, 1 VCS was detained, he states he is a RF, he was turned over to Mo Duc District Chief to be checked out.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0650hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Observed Mission 1 and Defense Targets 2 for a total expended of 27 HE and 1 WP rounds. At 0756hrs Recon Platoon is leaving wire at this time, At 0848hrs Recon now at checkpoint 2. At 0915hrs Recon we have been checking out the funny wheels trails with negative finding or any mines being planted on the trails. At 1200hrs Recon Platoon report their location at BS759414. At 1345hrs Recon Platoon at BS767423, spotted 2 VC with Automatic Weapons engaged with small arms fire wounding 1. The other dragged him across the railroad tracks and we are checking the area now. At 1405hrs Recon Platoon reports their location at BS767423. At 1500hrs Recon Platoon at BS774417 detained 6 VCS female ages 16-45 years old members of the Women Association will evac to Bronco, 2 had ID. At 1600hrs Recon Platoon has reported back to LZ Liz to take over their Security Mission.
