Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0655hrs TMF at 0650hrs S-61C sighted 6 packs moving east to west at 3 miles per hour metal was confirmation, negative clearance, RD Zone. At 1005hrs Brigade S-3 LOH Primo 5 spotted a line running from a hootch to well vicinity BS696564. Delta Company diverted the 34 element to investigate the area. Results Line turned out to be a string running from hootch to tree above the well appeared to be clothesline. Hootch was searched for false floors with negative results. At 1245hrs S-5 at BS724538 paid 1250 Piasters and 6 boxes C-Rations for 2 Bangalore torpedo, 1 M-79 HE round, 1 M-1 rifle grenade, 1 claymore firing device and 1 4.2 HE. Also 2 to 10 pound Chi Com Firing anti personnel mines, 6" tall 5" diameter, made of tin, fuses gone, 2 60mm HE rounds, 1 105 HE round with fuse removed, replaced by a detonator with trip wire release. All paid to 4 Vietnamese children ages 10 to 15, all items destroyed in place. At 1545hrs Major Swain after a talk with Colonel Holmes G-2, the 4 military age males from last night have now been reclassified as POW VC. At 1850hrs Brigade Bravo Troop 1-1 Calvary still OPCON to 1-20 Infantry as it stands right now they are tentatively scheduled to depart tomorrow at 0730hrs. There will be a Visual Recon will be conducted, by Engineers at 0700hrs tomorrow to confirm the traffic ability of Highway 1 at BS673677. Once it is confirm we will pass the word to Coast 12 and he will move out. The following must be reported, move out time and time departed Area of Operation. At 2359hrs Blue Ghost 43 is on station at Box 43. Legend: 1st Platoon 54-59, 2nd Platoon 84-89, 3rd Platoon 34-39, 4th Platoon 04-09 and CO 12.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company used saturation patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1950hrs Alpha Company all elements in location at BS709586, 58 ambush at BS712632 and the 86 ambushes was cancelled.
Bravo Company
October 4, 1970
At 1343hrs Bravo Company at BS723635 the 54 element moved out to pick up the family of the 14 year old detainee yesterday and pick up 1 male, 50, father also 1 female 45 with 2 babies. At 1830hrs Bravo Company at BS758654 returning from afternoon Bravo Company 87 patrol engaged one enemy male KIA by a grenade who was evading, at the time element took 10 to 15 rounds from BS748650 of small arms fire.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company has taken over the Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Delta Company

At 0705hrs Delta Company 55 element is moving out for BS698557. At 0740hrs Delta Company 85 is moving out for BS699559 and Delta Company 55 is at checkpoint 1 at BS698557. At 0805hrs Delta Company 36 is moving to BS700567 and the 55 element is closing on BS697564. At 0915hrs Delta Company 36 is moving to check hootch which Primo Spotted. Delta Company is still working with multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1640hrs Delta Company 57 element is moving out for BS700554 and 85 is moving to BS698567. At 1910hrs all elements have closed on their Night Defense Position at BS697564.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for the 1-20 Infantry.
