Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0130hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar targets 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS736448 with negative clearance and Alpha Company was informed. At 0410hrs Radar TMF at 1755hrs 2 stationary personnel were sighted at BS724453 and engaged with 4 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm and at 1910hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS827457 and engaged with 10 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2015hrs TMF sighted 10 to 15 personnel moving south at BS820436 and engaged with 36 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2015hrs TMF sighted 10 to 15 personnel moving south at BS820436 and engaged with 36 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2055hrs 6 to 8 stationary personnel were sighted at BS812476 and engaged with 12 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm and the sightings with negative clearance area listed separately in the log. At 0800hrs 26 Engineer at grid BS778445 the engineers found a Artillery round buried at an angle underneath the access road. They said it was not there yesterday. It was 200 meters off the Red ball on the south side of the road. An EOD team checked out the round and found it to be a dud 81 Illumination round which was extracted. At 1200hrs 1-20 Infantry Command and Control Helicopter picked up 5 female detainees ranging in age from 30 to 65. They had no ID and dressed in black and blue and were evac to Military Intelligence. At 1500hrs Brigade Intelligence documents captured from a NVA Officer on 03 May 1970 indicated attacks would begin on the night of 8 May 1970hrs in Quang Ngai Province attacks will be made by LF, MF and NVA units. ARVN 4-4 in the Song Ve Valley captured the documents the intelligence was disseminated by secure means to all possible units. At 1600hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 22 spotted 30 to 40 personnel at BS790488. We request a 2 ship Combat Assault from now to 042400hrs 1970 and a Area of Operation extension from BS772480 to BS753400 to BS806500 for this period. Bravo Company was informed and the 1st PZ at BS783433 was at 1630hrs and the 1st LZ was at BS790488 at 1635hrs cold. At the LZ of BS790488 Dolphin 22 picked up 1 Vietnamese male approximately 25 wearing a white shirt and blue pants. The detainee had an ID and was hostile on the pick up. Bravo Company has 28 detainees, 27 females without ID cards and 1 male with a suspicious ID. The 28 females where turned into MACV and the other 1 went to Military Intelligence.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is using Day Loggers and Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1840hrs Alpha Company we requests a routine Dust Off for one US with infected left arm. He was from the 74 elements line #2868 completed at 1846hrs (grid BS719439) Alpha Company closes in their Night Defense Position at BS716436. At 2100hrs Alpha Company calling in Artillery for suspected movement around their perimeter and will check it at first light.
Bravo Company

At 0400hrs Bravo Company at the Twin Ville a Bunker caught fire resulting in it burning down. A Candle or lantern started the fire. There was some hand frag and grenades inside. It was an American bunker and move information will be passed on in the AM. At 0808hrs Bravo Company the 39 element is providing road security at BS818398 and the PF are sweeping through the area of contact and had negative findings. At 1600hrs Dolphin 22 spotted 30 to 40 personnel at 790488, we request a 2nd ship for a Combat Assault from now to 042400hrs May 1970 and AO extension from BS772480 to BS753400 to BS806500 for this period. Bravo Company was informed and 1st PZ at BS783433 was at 1630hrs and the 1st LZ was at 1635hrs (cold). At the LZ of BS790488 Dolphin 22 picked up one Vietnamese male approximately 25 wearing a white shirt and blue pants, and the detainee had an ID and was hostile on the pick up. Bravo Company has 28 detainees, 27 females with ID cards and one male with a suspicious ID. The 28 detainee were turned into MACV and the other one went to Military Intelligence.
Charlie Company

At 0839hrs Charlie Company all elements have closed on BS786385, the 34 element working BS7738, 74 working BS7837 and 54 working BS7838. At 1730hrs The Command Post is at their Night Defense Position at BS780380. At 1816hrs Charlie Company reports all elements moving to their Night Defense Position or snake locations. At 1931hrs Charlie Company are in their Night Defense Position at BS780390 with multiple ambushes out.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0738hrs Delta Company the 35, 95 and 55 elements have closed on LZ Liz and the gate guards are moving out. At 1940hrs Delta Company the 76, 56 and the 36 elements are at their access road positions.
Echo Company
May 4, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0705hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fires Missions 7 for a total expended of 10 HE, 10 Illumination and 28 C/S rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0602hrs Recon Platoon we have linked up and moving back to LZ Liz. At 1852hrs Recon Platoon reports we are at MACV Mo Duc.
