Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0500hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Radar Targets at 1930hrs sighted 8 to 10 stationary personnel at BS769401 with negative clearance. At 2035hrs 25 stationary personnel were sighted at BS725440 and engaged with 31 HE of Artillery 155mm and at 2210hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS725438 and engaged with 60 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2235hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS725438 and engaged with 24 HE of Artillery 105mm and at 2300hrs TMF sighted 6 personnel that where moving northwest at BS730466 and engaged with 4 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 2305hrs 23 to 30 stationary personnel were sighted at BS724441 and engaged with 26 HE of Artillery 155mm, 85 HE of 105mm and 12 HE of 8". At 0050hrs 4 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS725442 and engaged with 9 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar. At 0531hrs TMF String 61 was activated by 5 personnel moving southwest to northeast at 3 miles per hour with no metal detected and engaged with 20 HE of Artillery 105mm cleared by 4-21 and 4-3 Infantry. At 0755hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry and 26 Engineer our working location today is at BS778530. At 0845hrs TMF String 72 was activated by 7 personnel moving east to west at 2 mile per hour at BS730466. Negative clearance was given due to an Alpha Company element, which was not reported to TOC, in the area. At 1710hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer the total hours 25 with 22 acres cleared at grid BS772537 to BS778540 with 300 gallons of fuel expended. We had 3 D7 deadline today and 1 CEV deadline and tomorrow we will have 4 D7 and 1 CEV operational. At 1930hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry we took 3 incoming mortar rounds inside the perimeter, 82mm type at BS778557. The suspected the enemy grid is BS756750. We need an urgent Dust Off for 4 US with multiple frag wounds (2 engineer and 2 from Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry) Dust Off completed at 2008hrs. The 2 Engineer are Steffen and Parker and the personnel from Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry are # 82 and line # 117. At 2029hrs Radar 3 to 4 stationary personnel were sighted at BS760447 with Alpha Company Infantry. At 2146hrs TMF 8 personnel moving north to south at 2140hrs with no metal detected activated string 61 with 20 HE of 105 were expended at 2147hrs. At 2335hrs Radar sighted 3 to 5 stationary personnel at BS724400 with Alpha Company informed. Since 1 April 1970 1-20 Infantry has extracted a total of 268,085 pounds of rice. Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports Rhonla M. Parker JR. with FW right Arms and SSGT Michael T. Steffen with FW right shoulder. Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry reports PFC William G Balderas treated at Bravo 23 Medical Frag wound to right arm and left shoulder and PFC J. (Salicbs SP?) with frag wound left arm treated at Bravo 23 Medical also 2 LT Nicholas J. Prevas JR. was treated in Field for frag wound left hand.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 0625hrs Alpha Company 55 and 52 elements have been linked up and are moving out to check the area of last night’s Artillery fire vicinity of BS720440 and the 96 element are closing on the Day Logger. Alpha Company has closed on Night Defense Position at 1830hrs with elements at the following locations 72 at BS743432, 92 at BS732444, and 52 at BS749439.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company at 1755hrs request a priority Dust Off for 2 Vietnamese children with frag wounds to the legs and back at BS771458. The Vietnamese set a booby trap off of unknown type at an unknown location completed at 1805hrs. At 1830hrs Bravo Company found a US type M-16 antipersonnel mine lot #35464, which was destroyed in place at grid BS764444.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company will continue their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2010hrs all access road snakes are in location.
Delta Company
June 4, 1970
At 0650hrs Delta Company 92 element is moving away from his objective by about 300 meters and the 72 element is moving into their Day Logger Position and the Command Post element are packing up to move to Day Logger. At 0747hrs Delta Company the Command Post is at BS755565, the 92 element is at BS763559 and the 54 and 72 elements have closed on BS736566. At 0940hrs Delta Company found a mound of dirt at BS763559, and the 92 element with a Chieu Hoi found one automatic weapon, unsuitable for use due to Rust, similar to a BAR, two SKS rifles in working condition except for one with broken stock. They were taken to Liz. At 1410hrs Delta Company the 72 element is at BS758556, the 52 element is at BS740568, the Command Post is at BS737566 and the 92 element is at BS758556. At 1550hrs 15,000 pounds of rice was extracted by Hook with 20,000 pounds by Alpha Company. At 1745hrs Delta Company a routine Dust Off for US with a virus and 102 temperature Line #74R, completed at 1815hrs vicinity BS746450. At 2000hrs Delta Company request an urgent Dust Off for one female and her child with gunshot wounds during an engagement with the 92 element and the VC/NVA. The 5 to 10 VC/NVA were engaged at 350 meters by the Delta 92 element vicinity at BS758556 completed at 2030hrs. At 2145hrs Delta Company the 72 element is at BS751569, the 92 element is at BS757558 and the 39, 52 and 12 elements are at BS741560. They evaded to the Southeast of our position. PFC James F. Koch was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 7 for a total expended of 23 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0710hrs Recon Platoon our present location and Day Logger is at BS751618. At 1000hrs Recon Platoon plans for tonight include the 94 snake at BS765610, the 95 snake at BS751614 and the 96 snake at BS760611. We will have a patrol this morning at 1030hrs with 95 element form the Day Logger BS740609 to BS752607 and back to the Day Logger. At 1215hrs Recon Platoon the 95 element found approximately 10 tunnels in a hill at BS742612. The tunnels were 6 X 6 X 6 and were covered by bamboo thickets. There was an OP that the Kit Carson Scout said the VC had been in recently. The 95 element also found 15 to 20 pounds of rice and detained 1 female 17 years old. She was evading and carrying 20 to 30 pounds of fish and a basket of fruit with no ID. At 1800hrs Recon Platoon we spotted and engaged 4 VC/NVA with packs and weapons at BS751615. The VC where engaged at 50 meters results in 1 VC KIA and 1 VC WIA, 1 M2 carbine CIA and 1 bag of documents CIA and the other VC evaded to the southwest, the KIA had 1 Chi Com grenade. It was later learned the KIA was a Mo Duc District Party Committee Leader. At 2001hrs the Recon Platoon reports their locations the 94 element is at BS765610, the 95 element is at BS751614 and the 96 is at BS760611.
