Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0730hrs Charlie Company 54 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer our present location and security element is at BS725602. At 1430hrs Charlie Company 54 we requested a priority Dust Off for 1 US and 1 Vietnamese child, trip a 60mm mortar round will pressure type device. Result 1 US KIA, 1 US WIA and 2 Vietnamese children was WIA, the US was with Charlie Company 26th Engineer, Dust Off completed at 1445hrs. At 1730hrs Charlie Company 84 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer we have 3 D7 operational with 22 acres cleared in the area of BS724592 to BS727592 to BS728591 to BS729590 with 3 bunkers destroyed, 25 pounds of TNT in a M16 ammo can. Also 1 booby trap was detonated with 1 US KIA and 1 Vietnamese Child WIA. Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports SSGT Douglas W. Crowell Headquarters and Headquarter Company 26 Engineer Multiple frag wounds to groin, neck and (L) thigh and PFC Kelly R. Davis Alpha Company 26 Engineer and 1430 to GRP Duc Pho with Frag wounds to head.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their OPCON to 4-3 Infantry and continued to use Search and Clear Operations in their Area of Operation and used both Day and Night Ambushes with their Patrol Base at BS504429.
Bravo Company
July 4, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0658hrs Bravo Company the 54 and 57 element has linked up and moving to BS754650 and the 16 element is moving to the Day Logger. At 0717hrs Bravo Company the 58 element is at BS729623 where they found booby trap markers, signs on paper, on the trail in the area. The Vietnamese say there is "Bouncing Betty" type. We tried to engage area with 81mm to clear the area but negative clearance was given. At 0750hrs Bravo Company 54 element received 2 sniper rounds from their south at 400 meters with no casualties at BS755635. We requested 81mm mortar in the area before checking. The area was checked with negative findings. At 0915hrs Bravo Company the 56 element is in yesterday Day Logger and the 58 element is in yesterday Day Logger. At 1917hrs Bravo Company the 58 and 56 elements are moving out and the new snake location for the 26 element is at BS716601. At 1939hrs Bravo Company the 16 element has been canceled because they are sending out 2 PF snakes and they need someone to secure the elements location. At 2021hrs Bravo Company the 26 element is at BS746650 and all elements were briefed on the "Rules of Engagement".
Charlie Company

At 0715hrs Charlie Company the 18 element is at checkpoint 1 at BS788450 and the 17 element is at checkpoint 1 at BS800444 and 35 element at checkpoint 1. At 0730hrs Charlie Company 54 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer our present location and security element is at BS725602. At 1000hrs Charlie Company at grid BS796462 the 16 element found 1 105 round booby tap with pressure release device, destroyed in place. At 1615hrs Charlie Company has Intelligence report, at 0900hrs 4 July 1971 the Kit Carson Scout found out from the mother of a Vietnamese Child killed. Later on, she said that her husband saw 5 VC with full uniform with weapons in the area of Nue Ong Do (BS768531), the uniform was green (US TYPE). At 1430hrs Charlie Company 54 we requested a priority Dust Off for 1 US and 1 Vietnamese child, trip a 60mm mortar round will pressure type device. Result 1 US KIA, 1 US WIA and 2 Vietnamese children was WIA, the US was with Charlie Company 26th Engineer, Dust Off completed at 1445hrs. At 1610hrs Charlie Company we request a routine Dust Off for one scout dog bleeding through the nose, the Dust Off completed at 1740hrs. At 1655hrs Charlie Company 14 element found a macheral can booby trap, which was destroyed in place. (Believe KIA was PFC KELLY RAY DAVIS working with Charlie Company 26 Engineer LISTED AS KIA). At 2114hrs Charlie Company we called in artillery on the area where the 16 element found a booby trap today. We had 1 secondary explosive at grid BS796462.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. Delta Company all access road snakes are in location.
Echo Company
July 4, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 5 for a total expended of 57 HE rounds and 28 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
