Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0750hrs 1-20 Infantry CPT McDonald reported Lambert Bus hit a mine bridge 105, no survivors. At 1879hrs 1-20 Infantry Mike 6 reports 60 persons moving from BS923276 to BS920280. At 1900hrs 1-20 Infantry addition to previous report 1-20 Infantry feels that Mike force was observing Bravo Company. At 2314hrs Mike Force had noted incoming Mortar rounds, 1-20 Infantry will keep you updated.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0150hrs 6th Engineer bunker 4 heard splashing in water in front of position at BS822368, illumination fired with negative sighting. At 0230hrs 4-3 Infantry reported sniper fire being received by 6th Support element on perimeter illumination was fired with negative sightings. At 0645hrs 4-3 Infantry reports Security Platoon reported 4 to 6 individuals vicinity BS838375 request illumination with negative finding. At 2255hrs 4-3 Infantry reported that bunkers 58 & 59 man by the 6th Support Battalion were receiving enemy small arms fire, requested illumination and return small arms fire. Bunkers report element is larger then a squad and smaller than a platoon. Element was taken under fire by bunkers and reported possible several enemy KIA vicinity BS846376. E Troop vicinity BS849376 reported to 4-3 Infantry TOC received sniper fire, and returned fire, negative results all quiet at 2310hrs.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company using multiple patrolling in their Area of Operations and continued there Security Mission for LZ Thunder. Working hard at putting LZ Thunder in to a well defend Fire Support Base and has a Platoon on LZ Charlie Brown.
Bravo Company
January 4, 1968
Bravo Company, location BS883327 contacted Search and Destroy operation during the day. Bravo Company Night Larger Position is at BS916291- Night patrol and ambush-small problem with Mike Force (An Australian- led force of Vietnamese) in AO (Area of Operations) just to our South. The 1-20 Infantry is to meet with Mike Force in the morning to work out the Area of Operations and communication. (NLP- a Night Lager Position where you move after dark no time to dig in your defense, NDP – a Night Defense Position that you dig in at, have to stop earlier in the day.) At 1415hrs Bravo Company 20, 30 and Command Post at BS707424. At 1540hrs Bravo Company 1 VCS was detained without ID at BS890295, evac to Military Police PW cage. At 1610hrs Bravo Company is located at BS731348.
Charlie Company
January 4, 1968
At 1000hrs Charlie Company at location BS799286 and at 1025hrs Charlie Company found 5 NVA bodies wearing light green uniforms at BS794283, no document indication shows. The NVA were killed by HE Artillery, and bodies mutilated by animals. Note previously reported by the 3rd Brigade 4th Division. At 1812hrs Charlie Company element has stopped moving and our Night Defense Position at BS893287 with Charlie 2 located at BS893287.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued with Search and Destroy operations in their Area of Operation with 2 Platoons continuing their Security Mission for some key bridges.
Echo Company
January 4, 1968
Echo Company and 4.2 platoon and radar platoon where located on LZ Thunder to provide direct support to the Battalion. At 1000hrs Recon reports their location at BS883327. At 1515hrs Recon elements discovered a series of tunnels, box of documents in one document there was a list of names. One of these names was recognized as a local villager. Recon has apprehended this villager and bringing him in to LZ Living End, also found lots of money, some new bills NVA Flags, Red Chinese flags, uniforms, packs, Ho Chi min sandals and will destroy tunnel when they finish clearing items out and checking the tunnel. At 1843hrs Recon reports their location at BS896317. The 4.2 Platoon continued to provide their direct support to the 1st Battalion 20th Infantry
