Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0335hrs Warlord Blue going around perimeters Bronco, 0346hrs LZ Liz, at 0355hrs LZ Snoopy and broke station at 0405hrs. At 0620hrs 1-20 Infantry Astroid (71 AHC) is on station for AMC. At 1-20 Infantry Access Road completed mine swept. At 0905hrs 1-20 Infantry Combat Assault of Delta, Bravo, Charlie Companies 1 PZ 0710hrs and 7th and last LZ at 0902hrs Combat Assault is completed and Astroid and lift ships released. At 1420hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo 6 (11 Brigade Aviation) is on station and broke station at 1537hrs. At 1824hrs 1-20 Infantry Access Road is closed. At 2100hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 2, Charlie 2 and Delta 1 for a total 5 out. At 2226hrs Inferno Blue (123 Aviation) going around Bronco, at 2238hrs LZ Liz, 2300hrs Snoopy and broke station at 2312hrs. Legend: 1st Platoon 59, 2nd Platoon 56, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 97, CO-29.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company
August 4, 1971
Alpha Company continued to conducts saturation patrolling with some Daylight ambushes in their Area of Operation and at 1815hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon and Command Post is moving into their Night Defense Position at BS751372. At 2002hrs Alpha Company 2nd Platoon is in their Night Defense Position at BS749377. Alpha Company reports 2 Mechanical Ambushes out.
Bravo Company
August 4, 1971
At 0736hrs Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault and on back haul Bravo Company is air lifted to LZ Liz. First PZ at 0734hrs and last LZ at 0837hrs and Bravo takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz completed at 0828hrs.
Charlie Company
August 4, 1971
Charlie Company conducts a Combat Assault had 6 PZ starting at 0830hrs finished at finished at 0902hrs and at 1200hrs 2nd Platoon moving out to BS656478 and at 1438hrs 1st Platoon closed on 1st Platoon at BS663477. At 1530hrs Charlie Company while in Patrol Base found a 55gal drum of unknown contents believed to be a booby trap is very old and has a fuse sticking out of it. The Drum used to be gray in color and will blow when they move out of the area. At 1805hrs Charlie Company is moving to their Night Defense Position at BS660478 and closed on it at 1840hrs with 2 Mechanical Ambushes out.
Delta Company
August 4, 1971
Delta Company conducts a Combat Assault with the 1st PZ at 0710hrs and last LZ was at 0824hrs. Bravo Company 1st PZ at 0734hrs and Last LZ was at 0834hrs and takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1504hrs Delta Company reports their Patrol Base at BS661476. At 1921hrs Delta Company established their Night Defense Position at BS656475 with 1 Mechanical Ambush out.
Echo Company
August 4, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1716hrs Recon reports their Night Defense Position will be BS735422. At 1820hrs Recon is departing LZ Liz and closed at 1945hrs on their Night Defense Position vicinity at BS735422.
