Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
April 4, 1970
Alpha Company patrols are moving out the 41 element is working with Chieu Hoi and moving to a suspected base camp at BS747367. At 1000hrs Alpha Company 41 element along with the Chieu Hoi found a small base camp at BS743360 which has been recently used. The report said base camp for 15-25 persons, there were 3 hootches and each slept 8 men each. Camp was built in a streambed and the hootches had raised floors approximately 3’. The found 2 fires and believe there was 2 personnel in the camp this morning who evaded to the northwest. The Alpha Company 41 element found an OP location 50 meters to the southeast of the camp. Also found were clothing, canteen cups, on M-16 magazines with 20 rounds in it. Request War loads or Tracker team. We will check it out some caves not far from base camp, at 1040hrs the 62 and the 63 are at their Day logger at BS754377. At 1125hrs Alpha Company 41 we request and urgent Dust Off for 5 (US) with multiple frag wounds from a booby trap 81mm round with a pressure release type device, complete at 1151hrs, grid BS743359. Names: Jones, J. with Multiple frag wounds of the chest, face and groin, Norburg with MFW of the right arm, SGT Brown with MFW upper right arm, Lt Bray with Multiple Frag Wounds of the hand and leg and Carnahan with MFW of the both legs and back. At 1920hrs Alpha Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position at BS753373. Alpha Company reports 1LT Gary W. Bray, SGT James W. Brown, Sgt Paul D. Norburg, PFC Jerry D. Jones and PVT Clair W. Carnahan where evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Bravo Company

At 1515hrs Bravo Company 63 element picked one male detainee wearing a black shirt and white shorts with no ID and approximately 60 years old. He will be sent into MACV grid BS774415. The 63 element is at BS774415 where they picked up documents containing a list of names with prices. The Vietnamese claim that the list was of names of people who gave money to the VC. We also detained one Vietnamese female who was dressed in black. She had an ID but is suspected of being a VC. She has a receipt from a VC, is approximately 50 years old and will be sent in to MACV. They admitted she is a VC, she was a nurse two years ago and her father and brother are now VC. At 2130hrs Bravo Company the 65 element will move out to BS811424 at midnight to check out the area where there is supposed to be 3 male and one female with carbines and rice. A detainee that we picked up today gave us the intelligence the man’s range in age from 21-33 and female 20. At 2155hrs Bravo Company 51 element picked up a detainee today who said at grid BS752350 there are one 81mm, one 60, 10 VC with AK47 and ammo for the mortars.
Charlie Company

At 0658hrs Charlie Company we have 19 mechanical ambushes out. At 0805hrs we had a mechanical ambush set off last night 150 meters to the north of the Charlie 41 element location, the mechanical ambush failed to blow. All elements have closed on BS748447 and the 65 element has linked up with the interpreter at 0820hrs at BS752457 the 65 elements and interpreter found a concealed tunnel with negative finding and blown the tunnel. At 1037hrs the 65 element at BS750355 in a hollow tree they found 8 round clip of M1 ammo, one roll of gauze and one bottle of gunpowder. At 1800hrs Charlie Company is now in their Night Defense Position at BS748454. At 2020hrs all 10 snakes are in location. Charlie Company the 41 will make a snatch 200 meters east of our snake location (BS752350) at 0500hrs and will Condon and Search operation. At 2020hrs Charlie Company all snakes are in location, the 61 is at BS741468, 63 is at BS734466, the 05 is at BS728464 and the 43 is at BS756447. Also the 03 snake is at BS747447, 44 at BS752447, 01 is at BS78458, the 41 is at BS750443 and the 45 is BS756449. At 2200hrs Charlie Company the 41 element will make a snatch 200 meters east of our snake location at 0500hrs and will Cordon and Search Operation.
Delta Company

Delta Company has the Security Mission for LZ LIZ and at 0845hrs Delta Company 43, 04 and 64 have closed on LZ Liz. At 0950hrs the access road Roving Patrol, are in position and the 62 SRRP is at BS765410. At 1950hrs Delta Company the access road roving patrols are in position and the 62 SRRP is at BS765410. At 2010hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC to Recon Platoon Marry up at 0730hrs and move out so you will reach the Day Logger at 1200hrs and the patrols will move out at 1500hrs.
Echo Company
April 4, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Supporting Fires 5, Observed Missions 9 and Defense Target 2 for a total expended of 26 HE, 2 WP and 13 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At Recon Platoon 0545hrs we spotted 2 VC evading to the southwest resulting in 1 VC female KIA with negative ID, 35 years old and dressed in black. Other personnel continued to evade to the southwest. No weapons were found they were engaged at 300 meters at grid BS792384. At 0825hrs Recon Platoon reports all elements have linked up in their Day Logger at BS784404. At 1041hrs Recon the 62 element has moved to BS780408 and the 64 element has moving to BS784400.
