Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0600hrs Command Message passed on to Companies (Use your air panels). Helix 33 FAC is putting in Air Strike at grid BS724415.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 0300hrs (Late Report) 1-20 Infantry at LZ Bronco reports on August 2 at 2145hrs a man went berserk and went outside the wire. They tired talking to him over loud speakers attempting to get him to come back with negative results and will sent a patrol out in the morning to try to find him. At 0630hrs on August 3, 1969 recovered 1 US, he was all right the patrol found him about 100meters outside the perimeter (no further Info at this time). At 2200hrs LZ Bronco reports E sector of 11th Brigade bunker line at LZ Bronco at 2145hrs at 150 meters off perimeter wire observed 1 VC/NVA in shorts, Base Defense has put E and F sectors on gray alert. At 2200hrs LZ Bronco PP/SI-5 at 2113hrs at BS840380 picked up 10 persons and engaged with 12 105 rounds, 8 81mm mortar rounds, unknown amount of 50caliber and 25 105 rounds of artillery. At 2215hrs C sector of Bronco bunker line at reported 1 VC/NVA outside of bunker line. At 2300hrs PP/SI-5 vicinity of BS838393 picked up 3-5 persons engaged with 18 HE 105 Artillery rounds, 9 81mm Mortar rounds.
Alpha Company

At 0725hrs Alpha Company Dusting one man Off with Command and Control Helicopter has a piece of frag from M-79 round, just under the skin, head medic said, he should be looked at. Alpha Company moved to their Day Logger BS728557 and continued to Sweep and Clear operation in their Area of Operation.
Bravo Company
September 3, 1969
At 0440hrs Bravo Company our 82 and the 63 snakes have closed on our Night Defense Position. At 0550hrs Bravo Company our 32 has closed. At 0715hrs Bravo Company is located at BS775452 our Day Logger. At 1235hrs Bravo Company our 92 element and Command Post is moving out for a Recon in Force and at 1300hrs 64 moving out on their Recon in Force Operation. At 1325hrs Bravo Company Plans for tonight and tomorrow, Night Defense Position at BS778449, the 64 snake at BS778461 tomorrow first light will sweep to BS773435, the 67 snake at BS769469 move to North Bridge at 2300hrs and at 0330hrs will snake at grid BS770470. The 92 snake at BS785434 tomorrow will Recon in Force to BS787440, tomorrow Day Logger will be around BS776434, the 67 (Ranger element) will work Red Ball from LZ Max to LZ Liz access road. At 1540hrs Bravo Company detained 2 VCS female, No ID, members of Women’s Association at BS778454, and will be evac to Bronco. At 1945hrs Bravo Company we are moving to our Night Defense Position and at 2017hrs Bravo 67 snake is at BS765455. At 2020hrs Bravo Company reports that we are now in our Night Defense Position and the 92 element has moved out to their snake location. At 2345hrs Bravo Company 67 element is moving back to the bridge site.
Charlie Company

At 0800hrs Charlie Company the 62 element will conduct a Recon in Force has left perimeter at this time. At 0920hrs Charlie Company 62 element checked out objective and now closing back on the Day Logger position at BS716466. At 1553hrs Charlie Company the 94 element is located at BS769466 1 squad and an interpreter. At 1915hrs moved into their Night Defense Position at BS729457 while moving observed 3 VC/NVA with packs and weapons, engaged with small arms fire and they evaded into tree line, calling in 4.2 without results. At 1345hrs Charlie Company report that they are in their Night Defense Position at BS733453.
Delta Company
September 3, 1969
Delta Company continued the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 1955hrs LZ Liz Urgent Dust Off for 1 US with tips of two fingers amputated, right hand. Received this while firing mortars (81mm), Lowe William PFC pick up site LZ Liz, completed at 2005hrs to 81 Evac Hospital. At 2029hrs Delta Company reports the 65 element is now leaving the wire.
Echo Company
September 3, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 1615hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Schedule Fires 10, Observed Mission 3 and Defense Targets 2 for a total expended 75 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. At 0600hrs Tracks and Recon Platoon, moving out and at 0835hrs now at Checkpoint 3 reports their location at BS808453. At 1930hrs Recon and Tracks are moving and present location at BS814455. At 1000hrs Recon and Tracks we are 400 meters east of the last location breaking for chow. Have been in contact with same dinks Romeo, also have 3 female VCS, picked up at grid BS802452, they had no ID, sending in all 3 VCS to Military Intelligence. At 1435hrs Recon Platoon is located at BS808452 and detained 3 VCS, negative ID, belonging to the women association ages 34, 30 and 22. The will be evac to LZ Bronco for Military Intelligence questioning. At 1145hrs Recon and Tracks reports we are at checkpoint 3 at BS814455. At 1345hrs Recon and Tracks are moving toward LZ Liz at this time. At 1430hrs Recon Platoon and Tacks have closed on LZ Liz.
