Headquarters and Headquarters Company

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Siberia and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 1000hrs Slow Motion #4 LOH is on station and broke station at 1125hrs. At 0830hrs to 0900hrs ARVN Battalion Commander is at this location and of presenting location or ARVN who will take over on Day 04, October 1971. He did speak of briefing Commanding Officer of ARVN. At 0745hrs Hornet 24 tail # 698 is on station for resupply and broke station at 1500hrs. At 1505hrs Americal Division Commander is at LZ Siberia, spoke of weather for pass two days of time Fog cleared in valleys.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ west and preparations for move to Chu Lai.
Bravo Company
October 3, 1971
At 0805hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon closed on their Patrol Base at AT916271. At 0840hrs Bravo Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon closed on Patrol Base at AT919271. Bravo Company continued to use Saturation Patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1007hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon closed on Patrol at AT916271. At 1357hrs Bravo Company 2nd Platoon patrol is moving to AT910271. At 1910hrs Bravo Company will use their Patrol Bases as their Night Defense Position tonight and all elements have closed on AT916271 and AT919271.
Charlie Company

At 1025hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon moving to AT929278 and 1040hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon moving to AT922280 and established a day ambush. At 1045hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon 3rd squad a day ambush at AT929278. At 1100hrs Charlie Company at AT927276 1st Platoon found a tunnel a month old open 2" X 2’ X 3’ entrance one front and one back, approximately 10’ Long used quite often. At 1400hrs 1st Platoon Ambush closed on Patrol Base and at 1850hrs Charlie Company has moved into their Night Defense Position at AT925275.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Siberia as the 1-20 Infantry prepares for their airlift. At 0830hrs to 0900hrs ARVN Battalion Commander at this location and of present location or ARVN who will take over on Day 04, October 1971. At 1505hrs Division Commander is at LZ Siberia, spoke of weather for pass two days of time Fog cleared in valleys.
Echo Company
October 3, 1971
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Siberia, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 1020hrs Recon Patrol is moving to AT862220. At 1005hrs Recon Patrol reports their location at checkpoint 1 at AT862220. At 1020hrs Recon Patrol is location at checkpoint 2 at AT859218. At 1645hrs Recon Platoon is at checkpoint 3 at AT857217. At 1710hrs Recon Patrol reports location at AT865223 and at 1720hrs Recon at AT866225 found 1 hootch well concealed with trail cover under tall grass, found Plates and steel pots size 10’ X 10’. Recon will set up ambush there for the night and destroy it in horning of 4 October 1971. At 1925hrs Recon Platoon is in their Night Defense Position at AT864221.
