Headquarters and Headquarter Company

Battalion Forward: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and continued their working with the ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0635hrs the 4.2 Ammo Report had 1 Observed Mission for a total expended 24 HE rounds. Delta Company is still OPCON to the 4-21 Infantry.
Battalion Rear: Battalion Rear continued their Mission for providing general support for the Battalion. At 2250hrs PP/SI-5 at 2110hrs at BS829373 picked up 10 persons moving south and engaged with 8 rounds of 81mm, mortar fire.
Alpha Company
October 3, 1969
At 0640hrs Charlie Company reports the 72 element is now in location at grid BS845 and my 82 and 82 elements will start sweeping in 5 minutes. At 0646 Alpha Company reports my 76 element engaged one male evading he was carrying some rice and bags. He dropped these and hid in a rock formation. We are trying to get him out at this time. At 1950hrs the 82 snake is in location. Alpha Company continued to have the Security Mission for LZ Liz and the Access Road.
Bravo Company
October 3, 1969
At 0647 Bravo Company reports we are moving out of our Night Defense Position at this time. At 0725hrs Bravo Company reach our Day Logger at BS783433. At 0940hrs Bravo Company all the "Twiggy" have closed on their preplanned locations. Ranger element will patrol tomorrow to BS845417. At 1810hrs we are moving to our Night Defense Position and using multiple ambushes tonight and they are all in position by 2040hrs. At 2240hrs Bravo Company the 85 snake potted 4 or 5 VC/NVA and sprang their ambush on them. They fired 2 claymores and had a secondary explosion and Search the Area. 1 confirmed KIA, with a helmet and rice lying near him, the body on the Red Ball. The 85 element will remain to keep an eye on the area.
Charlie Company

At 068hrs Charlie Company at grid BS845405 my 72 element engaged one male evading. He was carrying some rice and bags. We are trying to get him out at this time. At 0800hrs Charlie Company at grid BS845405 the 72 element got 1 KIA and US Carbine, serial (#37111679). At 0907hrs Charlie Company all elements are linked together.
Delta Company
October 3, 1969
Delta Company is still OPCON to the 4-21 Infantry. Delta Company established their Night Defense Position at BS 813230.
Echo Company
October 3, 1969
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. The 4.2 Platoon reports we had Observe Mission 1 total expend 24 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon is located at LZ Liz with their Security Mission for LZ Liz and 1-20 Infantry.
