Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0047hrs Shark 6 on station and is checking area of radar sighting. At 0112hrs Flare ship is on station and at 0137hrs Nighthawk (Blue Ghost) on station joining the group. At 0137hrs Shark 6 and Nighthawk started engaging target at grid vicinity BS7248. At 0153hrs 1-20 Infantry requests Area of Operation extension ASAP to 031200hrs November 1970 from BS7150 to BS7550 to BS7548 to BS7148 to start. B 94 approved LT Vin. At 0200hrs White Team approved to go in area in morning at grid BS727487. At 0207hrs 1-20 Infantry Shark 6 breaking station (low on fuel) and flare ship breaking station. Blue Ghost reports they are still working out at grid BS727487. At 0215hrs TMF Fire Mission time called 0210hrs String 61 target B metal confirmation. Blue Ghost going to check it our, had negative results. Got OK for Blue Ghost 41 refuels and stays on LZ Liz. At 0405hrs Radar on SOP spotted 10 to 15 moving west to grid BS726487, engaged with 18 HE rounds 105mm Artillery. At 0420hrs got repeat on with mission with 18 HE rounds 105mm Artillery. Blue Ghost 41 went to check out area at 0430 put WP on deck at 0431hrs. At 0450hrs Blue Ghost had negative findings and broke station for Chu Lai. At 0620hrs Radar at 0544hrs 20 plus moving west at grid BS712430 engaged with 28 HE rounds 105mm Artillery and at 0605hrs 20 plus moving east at grid BS707430 engaged with 16 HE rounds 105mm artillery. At 0615hrs 20 plus moving east at grid BS706428 engaged with 14 HE rounds 4.2 Mortar fire, for a total expenditure of 58 rounds. Went to Brigade 6 times with request for gun ships, none available (LT Pack) 1st call at 0545hrs, 0550hrs, 0605hrs, 0610hrs, 0613hrs and the 6 time at 0615hrs. At 0650hrs Primo 3 on station to check sightings of BS7042 of 20 plus, had negative findings, diverted to BS727487 to check area with negative findings. At 0712hrs resupply helicopter on station. At 0750hrs Primo on station for Command and Control Helicopter and Battalion Commander departed LZ Liz. At 0800hrs Primo spotted some hats and packs at grid BS774478, also some new hootches being build no personnel in sight and sharks engaged the area with negative results. At 0901hrs Primo Command and Control Helicopter broke station and Battalion Commander dropped off at LZ Bronco. At 1010hrs Primo 3 with White Team found 1 body, no clothes, floating in river. MACV Mo Duc notified RF 143 couldn’t check area due to swiftness of current and water depth. Will keep us posted as to when they can check area. At 1040hrs Battalion Commander returned to LZ Liz. At 1125hrs Report from MACV MO Duc that the PF checked the area Primo found a body (Negro) GI with no clothes on. At 1205hrs 1-20 Infantry Area of Operation Extension request Date/Time/Grid ASAP to 052400hrs November 1970 BS735450 west to BS6945 south to BS6941 east to BS723410, purpose to insert Bravo Company. At 1256 Charlie Company Dolphin 23 picked up personnel from Charlie Company and proceeded to BS740680. Picked up suspected US body, returned to 23 Medical, awaiting Identification. At 1348hrs 1-20 Infantry AMC with Battalion Commander departed LZ Liz for Eagle Flight of Alpha Company and Bravo Company with the Recon Platoon. At 1500hrs Brigade Quang Nghia bridge collapsed at BS674677. At 1631hrs Eagle Flight Combat Assault: 1 PZ 1405hrs Recon LZ at BS729481 at BS728487 at BS729484, 2 PZ 1432hrs V03 at BS696424, 3 PZ 1455hrs V02 at BS700426, 5PZ 1540hrs J03 LZ at BS753622, 6 PZ LZ 1611 JZ LZ at BS759614, 7 PZ 1617 LZ J83 LZ at BS760602, which completed Eagle Flight at 1631hrs and birds released. At 1510hrs Charlie Company and Alpha Company at BS754600, AMC en route to LZ vicinity BS757606 spotted 1 VC evading to the west toward Nui Van Bong Mountains. 2nd Platoon of Alpha Company was airborne at the time and was diverted into BS754600, made contact with the evading enemy and pursued him into the base of the mountains. They assaulted a thick hedgerow and drug out 2 VC, 1 was wearing black wounded in chest and 1 was wearing black and maroon with small wound to the shoulder. Both were carrying bags of rice, both had negative ID and both were later identified as KIA. At 2000hr Blue Ghost 49 is on station at LZ Liz. At 2000hrs 1-20 Infantry conducted a practice alert (Mortar Attack) results determined satisfactory. At 2126hrs 10C Radar people on Nui Vong spotted lights moving at BS652614, lights were moving around in the area with no specific direction of movement. Spotted 4 to 6 lights moving, negative clearance, political. At 2237hrs TMF target 72 C stationary target with metal confirmed engaged at 2231hrs 8 HE rounds 105mm Artillery. At 2326hrs MACV notified 1-20 Infantry that highway 1 will close from 0800hrs to 1500hrs on 4 November 1970 due to installation of a bridge at BS681664. Directive came from Quang Nghia MACV. Legend 1st Platoon 03-08, 2nd Platoon 53-58, 3rd Platoon 83-88, 4th Platoon 63-68 and CO 02.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
November 3, 1970
Alpha Company started the day with the Security Mission for LZ Liz and moved off the LZ Liz at 1000hrs. At 1136hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon at grid BS730606 received small arms sniper fire believed to be 2 personnel with SKS’s 10 to 20 rounds were fired and they evaded to the east. They where engaged at 900 meters to the northeast by Artillery fired, checked out area also with negative findings. At 1214hrs Alpha Company at BS724603 requests Urgent Dust Off, 1 personnel with Artillery frag in arm, Artillery fired as counter to sniper fire, from LZ Snoopy into BS7259. At 1450hrs Charlie Company and Alpha Company at BS754600, the AMC en route to LZ vicinity BS757606 spotted 1 VC evading to the west toward NUI VAN BONG Mountain. The 2nd Platoon of Alpha Company was airborne at the time and was diverted into vicinity BS754600, made contact with the evading enemy and pursued him into the base of the mountains. They assaulted a thick hedgerow and drag out two VC. One was wearing black and wounded in the chest, other wearing black and maroon with small arms wound to the shoulder. Both were carrying bags of rice, both had negative ID, requested Dust Off for both VC. Dust Off cancelled both VC became KIA from their wounds. At 1800hrs the 1st Platoon at BS753623 found 1 can of Petna in a bush with trip wire attached and running across the trail it had an arrow attached to the tree to slow where it was, Booby trap was blown in place. At 1925hrs Alpha Company reports locations Command Post BS762614, 1st Platoon at BS754621, 3rd Platoon at BS760607, 1st Platoon at BS755613, and 3rd Platoon ambush BS768604. Alpha Company reports SP4 Michael T. Kelley evac to 27 Surgical treated for frag wound to right arms.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued to use Multiple Ambushes and some Day Patrolling in their Area of Operation today with multiple might ambushes in their Area of Operation.
Charlie Company
November 3, 1970
At 0955hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon pick up and at 1000hrs landed at LZ Dragon and 1st Platoon at 1125hrs and 3rd Platoon landed at LZ Dragon at 1131hrs. Charlie Company was back haul for Eagle Flight to LZ Dragon. Charlie Company has the Security Mission for LZ Dragon.
Delta Company
November 3, 1970
0630hrs Delta Command is moving to Red Ball. At 0745hrs Delta Company ready for pick-up grid BS724569. At 0915hrs Delta Company linked up awaiting trucks for move to LZ Liz and at 1005hrs on truck moving to LZ Liz. At 1025hrs Delta Company had closed on Fire Support Base Liz and is now processing through medical and service support station.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1829hrs Recon Platoon checked area of contact of 03 November 1970 with negative findings. At 1922hrs Recon 03 element is located at BS735486 and at 1945hrs Recon 04 joined the 03 element.
