Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0530hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Spot Check of bunkers 13, 14, 8, and 9 Guards on 13 and 14 were asleep, guard on 13 had a transistor radio on, did not know password, location of claymores, or location of trap flares. At 0740hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 651 is on station for re supply and broke station at 0940hrs. At 1317hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 7 is on station for AC Box 59. At 1322hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 458 is on station for re supply. At 1330hrs Primo 3 is on station at this time and broke station at 1425hrs. At 1403hrs 1-20 Infantry Warlord 7 spotted 3 freshly used bunkers and engaged at vicinity BS635535, results were 3 bunkers destroyed and also destroyed 1 hootch and broke station at 1425hrs. At 2045hrs to 1-20 Infantry Bravo Company from S-3 On 5 May: you will provide 1 platoon for security of OP Nui Vong. Platoon will be Combat Assault out of your present Area of Operation to OP. Inform S-3 which Platoon you will provide and AJAX #. 1-20 Infantry To Nui Vong from S-3, 1. Security Platoon will be returned to LZ Liz to resume security of Access Road. 2. Extraction on 5 May. 3. One responsible NCO from Security Platoon will remain on OP to sign over property. All property will be centrally location and Individual will be extracted later the same day ACKOWLEDGE. At 2100hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambush out at this time Delta 4, Charlie has 4 and Bravo has 3 out. At 2154hrs Saber 49 is on station for NH Box 66, at 2220hrs Saber 49 had negative findings in 66 and is in 62 now, broke station at 2237hrs with negative findings. At 2300hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Bunker line inspection: Bunker 4- guards not posted until 2400hrs no knowledge of password, # 3 no one present, # 2 guard inside at chow/ no knowledge of password, and bunker # 17 PFC Bossness Alert Knowledgeable. Legend: 1st Platoon 51, 2nd Platoon 26, 3rd Platoon 13, 4th Platoon 17, CO-66.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1040hrs Alpha Company used a vehicle movement from LZ Dragon to LZ Liz completed as Alpha Company takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2300hrs LZ Liz Bunker line inspection Bunker #4 guards not posted until 2400hrs, no knowledge of password, #3 no one present, #2 guard inside at chow, no knowledge of password, and Bunker #7 PFC Bossness alert and Knowledgeable.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued with their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 0530hrs 1-20 Infantry LZ Liz Spot Check of bunkers 13, 14, 8, and 9 Guards on 13 and 14 were asleep, guard on 13 had a transistor radio on, did not know password, location of claymores, or location of trap flares. At 0822hrs Bravo Company begin vehicle move to LZ Dragon from LZ Liz. At 1040hrs the vehicle movement to LZ Dragon is completed. At 1805hrs Bravo Company 3rd Platoon closed on BS685515. As Bravo Company set up a Patrol Base and start multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2020hrs Bravo Company 1st Platoon found a booby trap in their Night Defense Position, a 105mm round with smoke grenade fuse and trip wire. The booby trap was in an area that had been burned by WP and the trip wire had been burned. 1st Platoon disarmed the booby trap and will blow it in the morning. The age of the booby trap appears to be about a week, vicinity BS669541. At 2045hrs Bravo Company from S3 On 5 May you will provide one platoon for security of OP Nui Vong, Platoon will be Combat out of Present Area of Operation to OP. Inform S-3 which Platoon you will provide and AJAX to go, to OP Nui Vong. S-3 Security Platoon will be returned: 1. Security Platoon will be returned to LZ Liz to reassume security Mission for access road. 2. Extraction on 5 May. 3. One responsible NCO from Security Platoon will remain on OP to sign over property. All property will be centrally located, the Individual to be extracted later the same day Acknowledge. At 2050hrs Bravo Company all element in Night Defense Position Command Post 2nd Platoon at BS675517, 3rd Platoon at BS683512 and 1st and 4th Platoon at BS669541 with 3 Mechanical Ambush out.
Charlie Company

At 0710hrs Charlie Company all ambushes closed at this time, 1st Platoon closed from BS728403, 2nd Platoon ambush closed from BS727429. At 1035hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon is moving to BS703508. At 1200hrs Charlie Company 3rd Platoon while on a patrol spotted 1 VC coming out of a spider hole. They engaged with small arms fire and VC evaded to the southwest they hear many people talking at this time, sweep the area with negative findings, vicinity BS705415. At 1317hrs Charlie Company is using Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 2027hrs Charlie Company all elements in Night Defense Position Command Post 3rd Platoon at BS722407, 3rd Platoon ambush at BS713413, 1st Platoon at BS722416, 1st Platoon ambush at BS720405 and 2nd Platoon at BS716436 with 2nd Platoon ambush at BS716440 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

Delta Company at 0645hrs Command Post and 2nd Platoon is their Patrol Base at BS704477, 3rd Platoon will use their Night Defense Position as their Patrol Base and will continue to use multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 1005hrs Delta Company 1st and 4th Platoon is moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS678520. At 1630hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol is at checkpoint 1 at BS705480. At 1717hrs Delta Company 1st and 4th Platoons moving to Night Defense Position, will stop en route and wait for darkness, BS711477. At 2005hrs Delta Company all element in Night Defense Position Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS703473, 1st and 4th Platoon at BS710473, 3rd Platoon at vicinity BS704503 with 4 Mechanical Ambush out. At 2129hrs Delta Company 3rd Platoon sighted 4 lights 800-900 meters to their south, artillery fired, negative further sightings vicinity BS703492.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry.
