Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0120hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Target sighted 6 to 9 stationary personnel at BS744464 and Alpha Company was informed. At 0425hrs Radar Target at 1905hrs 10 to 15 stationary personnel were sighted at BS838422 and engaged with 6 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 1940hrs 8 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS828417 and engaged with 12 HE rounds of Artillery 105mm. At 2130hrs 3 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS734416 and engaged with 11 HE rounds of 4.2 Mortar and at 0115hrs 6 to 9 stationary personnel were sighted at BS744464 Alpha Company was informed. At 0130hrs 1 to 5 stationary personnel were sighted at BS815484 and engaged with 14 HE rounds of Artillery 155mm. At 0430hrs 20 to 30 stationary personnel were sighted at BS835432 and engaged with Artillery 105mm. At 0800hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC we requests an Area of Operation extension, B17, from BS694530 to BS738530 to BS713610 to BS76810 with DATE/Tine of 050400 to 051800hrs May 1970 for the purpose of combined combat operation with Mo Duc District personnel in reaction to intelligence. At 1402hrs Radar sighted 3 to 5 personnel, stationary at BS827437 and Bravo Company was informed. At 0653hrs TMF at string 75 spotted 5 personnel where moving southwest to northeast at 2 miles per hour with metal detected with negative clearance. We requested a Visual Recon Team but none came. At 1753hrs TMF at string 70, 4 personnel were moving from the west to the east at 2 miles per hour with a Visual Recon Team requested. No metal, Alpha Company was informed and the target was engaged with 14 rounds of Artillery 105mm at grid BS72164523 and no Visual Recon team. At 2015hrs Radar sighted 10 to 15 moving south with Bravo Company informed. At 2356hrs TMF Target is at BS770387 with 7 personnel moving east with negative clearance and Charlie Company was informed.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company is using Day Loggers, Saturation Patrolling and some Day Ambushes. At 0915hrs Alpha Company 93 is moving to link up with the PF’s for operation at BS757459. At 1714hrs Alpha Company the 70, 73, and 90 elements is moving in to Night Defense Position at BS732457.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company (Late Report) the 95 element sprung their ambush at 2300hrs on one VC who was walking into their location from the northwest. The VC crossed the railroad berm and was 25 meters away when the 95 element engaged him with small arms. In checking the area we found one VC KIA and one AK 54 pistol, one US grenade, a transistor radio and wearing GI clothing (5’ tall), Grid BS762450. At 0728hrs Bravo Company the 56 element is at checkpoint 3 at BS780376, the 55 element moving out to BS781418 and 35, 36, 37 elements have closed on BS783433. At 1752hrs Bravo Company the 54 element found a fresh grave at BS814412 with one VC body in the grave. It was about one week old. The area will be checked out tomorrow by the 57 element. They also spotted one VC evading at BS818405 and checked the area with negative findings. At 1820hrs Bravo Company the 54 element picked up one male detainee, approximately 17 years of age, at BS818405, he was wearing blue pants and a white shirt. The PF say he is a student but was acting suspicious and will go thru MACV Channels and he had no ID. At 2356hrs Bravo Company the PF 169, sprung their ambush on 3 VC, they were moving east and were engaged at 70 meters. We checked the area and found 1 US grenade and negative finding.
Charlie Company

0800hrs Charlie Company 56 element has closed on LZ Liz and the 34 element with the mine team sweep has moved out to BS765437. At 1035hrs the 37 element has closed on LZ Liz. At 1105hrs Charlie Company is leaving LZ LIZ. At 1243hrs Charlie Company is leaving LZ Liz and Delta Company is moving on the hill. At 1401hrs Charlie Company 97 sets up their Night Defense Position will be at BS762402 and all elements will have 2 mechanical ambush. At 1842hrs Charlie Company the 93 element contacted 3 VC carrying packs and they evaded to the east with the 93 element chasing with negative finding. At 1910hrs Charlie Company reports the Command Post is at their Night Defense Position at BS774405. Charlie Company reports their multiple ambushes are all in location at 2133hrs.
Delta Company

At 0730hrs Delta Company 93 element conduct a sweep through the area with negative findings. At 0916hrs Delta Company 53 and 70 elements are on Liz. At Delta Company the 33 element is at BS779424 and the 93 element is at BS774410. At 1037hrs Delta Company road guards on the access road are in location. Delta Company 33 element closed on the access road. The Delta Company takes over the Security Mission for LZ Liz and closed at 0970hrs.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0643hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 6 for a total expended of 12 HE rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 1905hrs Recon Platoon the 54 snake is moving to BS768475, the 56 snake is at BS771473 and the 53 snake at BS724470.
