Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0205hrs LZ Liz, LT Dolan inspected bunkers # 1, 2 and 3 and all were satisfactory. At 0454hrs Saber 49 is on station to work NH Box 64, broke station at 0538hrs with negative findings. At 0517hrs 1-20 TMF String G56B target 4 to 5 personnel moving northwest at 3 miles per hours with negative metal confirmation, and at 0520hrs engaged with 10 HE 81mm fire. At 0529hrs LZ Liz SGT Penley inspected bunkers 7, 8, 9 and all satisfactory. At 1310hrs 1-20 Infantry Dolphin 423 is on station for resupply. At 1602hrs 1-20 Infantry Helix 01 is on station, checking out grid BS654593 where the IOS on Nui Vong spotted 6 to 8 personnel. At 1638hrs Helix 01 broke station with negative findings. At 1920hrs MACV MO Duc vicinity BS699563 requests 1 Urgent Dust Off for 1 PF with bleeding ulcer, negative Vietnamese Air Force 03NHI, Bird #88 completed at 1927hrs to Quang Ngai. At 2023hrs TMF Bravo Company CS-6 Bravo Stationary TARGET with negative metal confirmation, not fired due to contact. At 2105hrs OP Nui Vong IOS picked up 1 sampan at BS670585, cleared CCP, IDH engaged with quad 50, 4.2 Mortar and Artillery had 1 secondary explosion. At 2118hrs TMF Activation GS-6 B Target negative metal confirmation and engaged at 2122hrs with 10 HE 81mm Mortar. At 2213hrs Saber Black working NH Box 63, broke station at 2230hrs with negative findings. At 2241hrs Bravo Company CPT Guill inspected bunkers #7, 8, 9, 13 and 14 and all satisfactory. At 2245hrs Saber Black is on station at Box 67 and broke station at 2329hrs with negative findings. At 2249hrs 1-20 Infantry Mechanical Ambushes out: Alpha 3, Charlie 6, Delta 3 and Recon 0 for a total of 12 out. At 2325hrs Bravo Company LT Dolan inspected bunkers # 1, 2, 3 all satisfactory. Legend: 1st Platoon 34, 2nd Platoon 05, 3rd Platoon 89, 4th Platoon 78, CO-07.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

Alpha Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0401hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon Rat Patrol moving out to vicinity BS730486. At 1254hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon Patrol is moving to BS717489. At 1635hrs Alpha Company 3rd Platoon Patrol is moving out to BS721475 with 1st Platoon Patrol at checkpoint 2 vicinity BS714489. At 1737hrs Alpha Company 1st Platoon roving to BS723497 and at 1918hrs 1st Platoon will run a patrol at 0400hrs to grid BS730486, running patrol due to intelligence that Kit Carson Scout got from Coke Kid, that VC are in the area. At 1955hrs Alpha Company elements in Night Defense Positions 1st Platoon at BS723495, 3rd Platoon at BS724477, Command Post, 2nd and 4th Platoon at BS721489 and have 3 Mechanical Ambush out.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road Security. At 0205hrs LZ Liz LT Dolan inspected bunkers 1, 2 and 3 and all were satisfactory. At 0529hrs SGT Penley inspected bunkers. At 2241hrs Bravo Company LT Guill inspected bunkers 7, 8, 9, 13 and 14 and were found satisfactory.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0643hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon is moving to Patrol Base vicinity BS720398, 1st Platoon and 3rd Platoon ambush closed on Night Defense Position and 2nd Platoon ambush closing to BS720398. At 1030hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon Patrol closed on BS710432 and 2nd Platoon closed on BS723394. At 2000hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon while entering their Night Defense Position spotted 18 VC/NVA with weapons, 2 with packs approximately 200 meters to south walking. Charlie Company 1st Platoon engaged with small arms fire, received 4-5 RPG impacting 75 meters to north of 1st Platoon called in Fire Mission vicinity BS717439. At 2043hrs sweeping area and found 1 VC/NVA KIA, 1 RPG launcher, blue on blue, Ho Chi Minh sandals, wallet, paper work, 12 Chi Com grenades, 30 AK rounds, 3 pistol belts. At 2055hrs Charlie Company Night Defense Position locations 2nd Platoon at BS727392, 2nd Platoon ambush at BS723393, Command Post and 3rd Platoon at BS712413, 3rd Platoon at BS7104011, 1st Platoon at BS710439 with 6 Mechanical Ambush out.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued using Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0635hrs Delta Company 1st and 4th Platoon is moving to BS643557. At 0706hrs Delta Company Command Post and 2nd Platoon is moving to Patrol Base at BS660560. At 0850hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon Patrol Base is at vicinity BS650557. At 1643hrs Delta Company 1st Platoon requests 1 priority Dust Off vicinity BS650557 for 1 Pack with shrapnel in the elbow after a fire burning C Ration boxes near the Patrol Base detonated a booby trap. The Line # W6043, Wellday, William, booby trap was a frag, Bird # 88 completed Dust Off at 1709hrs. At 1819hrs 1st Platoon while moving to Night Defense Position spotted 4 VC/NVA, 2 with weapons (possibly 1 AK47, 1SKS) wearing black on black at vicinity BS650557, called in Fire Mission. VC appear to evaded south 1st Platoon received 10 rounds of small arms fire and 6 M-79 rounds that impacted 500 meters to the west of 1st Platoon from grid BS654564, will check out the area at first light. At 2019hrs Delta Company Night Defense Position 1st and 4th Platoon at BS643557, Command Post and 2nd Platoon at BS658558. SP4 William C. Wellday was evac to the 91st Evac Hospital.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. At 0710hrs Recon completed sweep of contact area, found numerous footprints and sandal prints, negative findings by Scout Dog due to rain. At 0740hrs Recon in Patrol Base at BS766408. At 0840hrs Recon in Night Defense Position for 03 at BS767418. At 1820hrs Recon is moving out to their Night Defense Position at BS767418 and closed at 1957hrs.
