Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 2330hrs 1LT Szurek was informed that all resupply would be transported by chopper starting at 0800hrs on 3 June 1970 and all items except hot A’s will go out. At 1000hrs the (Hot Meal) A’s will go out, no vehicles will be used for resupply. At 0455hrs 1-20 Infantry Radar Targets at 1455hrs sighted 6 to 8 stationary personnel at BS770487 with MACV informed, at 2300hrs 6 to 10 stationary personnel at BS770487 with MACV informed, at 2300hrs 6 to 10 stationary personnel were sighted at BS785499 and engaged with 12 HE of Artillery 105mm. At 0400hrs 2 to 4 stationary personnel were sighted at BS839424 and engaged with 8 HE of Artillery 155mm. At 2040hrs Radar sighted 6 to 7 personnel with no clearance. Charlie Company 26 Engineer at 0735hrs at our new working site grid BS772581 had a dossier hit a booby trap 155 round. It was attached to an antipersonnel, firing device. The device went off but the 155mm did not. It left a crater 1’ by 6". There were no casualties or damage. At 0850hrs Delta Company 4-21 Infantry all elements are on the Red ball except the 74 element which is closing now. At 1035hrs Delta Company we are leaving your push and returning to 4-21 Infantry (Area of Operation). At 1430hrs Charlie Company 4-3 Infantry reports their location at BS772537. At 1800hrs 26 Engineer reports all elements are in our Night Defense Position at BS778557. At 1925hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer the total hours worked 28 with 17 acres cleared, within grids BS765592, BS771584 (100 by 500 meters) and BS769534 to BS770535 (100 by 100 meters). 1 booby trap was destroyed, 1 bunker destroyed, 400 gallons of fuel, with D7 operational, 1 D7 deadline for transmission with 2 CEV operational.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company

At 1640hrs Alpha Company set up their Night Defense Position is at BS749459. Alpha Company again is using Cordon and Search and day ambushes, and some patrolling in their Area of Operation also will be using Multiple Night Ambushes.
Bravo Company
June 3, 1970
At 0900hrs Bravo Company the 79 element found a homemade booby trap made of 2 Pepsi Cans with packed explosives and an instant fuse attached to the trip wire on a trail at BS768452. We disarmed and will bring it in. Bravo Company Combat Assault of troops 1st PZ at 1816hrs BS783432 and LZ at 1905hrs into BS765412, BS763412, BS761412, and B 94 element is moving to BS775441.
Charlie Company

Charlie Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz. At 2045hrs all access road snakes are in location. At 0035hrs Charlie Company the 79 element has closed on LZ Liz. At 2150hrs Radar sighted at BS764439, 3 personnel, and it was confirmed it was the Charlie Company roving patrol.
Delta Company

At 0555hrs Delta Company the 74 elements is moving out to secure rice of 4-21 Infantry. Delta Company the 94 element is in location. At 1950hrs Delta Company 54 snake is at BS740568. At 2035hrs Delta Company the Night Defense Position is at BS736566, the 92 element is at BS757558 and the 72 element is at BS736563. At 2325hrs Delta Company resume for tomorrow, rice pick up is 9,000 pounds at the 52 element location, 3,000 pounds at the Command Post element location, 2,500 at 72 elements and 600 pounds at the 92 element. Delta Company reports SP4 Elmer E Hall evac to 91st Evac Hospital sick.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 0600hrs 4.2 Platoon reports Fire Mission 11 for a total expended of 62 HE and 24 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. At 0725hrs Recon Platoon all elements are in location at BS727563. At 0927hrs Recon Platoon the 94 element is at BS728607, the 95 element is at BS729613 and the 96 element is at BS739614. At 1600hrs Recon Platoon we spotted and engaged 1 VC at BS730590 and he was wearing black pants and shirt. He was evading to the east and engaged at 500 to 600 meters resulting in 1 VC KIA and 1 Chi Com Grenade CIA, approximately 26 years old. At 1728hrs Recon Platoon all elements moving to their night locations. At 1820hrs request an urgent Dust Off for 1 VC female with gunshot wound of the head, also 1 Vietnamese with head wound. The personnel were with 6 male VC/NVA (3 carrying packs) 2 wearing green uniforms, 3 were dressed in black, 1 dressed in white and all were wearing bush hats completed at 1828hrs grid BS728607. They evaded to the north and it is unknown if they had weapons. At 1910hrs Recon Platoon 600 meters north of our location where we engaged the 6 VC received 3 rounds of semi automatic fire from 30 to 400 meters north of their location. At 2005hrs Recon Platoon 3 poncho liners, 1 rucksack were combat loss when they caught fire by a smoke grenade when a Dust Off came in Name Sorg, Martel SGT. At 2017hrs Recon Platoon the 94 element is at BS728607, the 95 element is at BS729613 and the 96 element is at BS739614.
