Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0240hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon at Nui Vong has preplanned practice alert at 0228hrs reached 100% at 0232hrs and back to 50% at 0237hrs, fired 6 Illumination and 1 HE 81mm on preplanned Defense Targets, judged as satisfactory by hill Officer in Charge. At 1045hrs 1-20 Infantry requests Area of Operation for Delta Company, Upper Left BS6950, Lower Right BS7440, 040600to 102400hrs. Clearances: Mo Duc (WW), Duc Pho (MKE), Ba to (MC), 4 ARVN (Hung) and Brigade (RKC). At 1336hrs Long Thanh Red legs, vicinity BS918237, while en route to Long Thanh, Artillery Liaison was WIA by sniper fire, taken to MACV Duc Pho for treatment, US confirmed (MKE). At 1500hrs 1-20 Infantry Primo is on station at this time. At 1935hrs PF 172 vicinity BS752579, RF stepped on a mine resulting in 1 RF WIA Urgent Dust Off requested completed at 1050 to Quang Ngai. At 2042hrs 2-4 ARVN, an element of 2-4 ARVN while moving to Night Defense Position detonated 1 booby trap vicinity BS878/342, resulting in 1 ARVN WIA. At 2140hrs RF 103 Battalion RF Company made contact with VC Platoon vicinity BS752454, VC fired several B 40, M-79 and AK 47 rounds resulting in negative friendly or enemy casualties. At 2120hrs Warlords Blue into Nighthawk box 64 and is out of box with negative findings at 2155hrs and back to Quang Ngai. At 2140hrs RF 172 vicinity BS752579, POW was showing suspect enemy tunnel containing 3 VC, while en route tripped a booby trap, results friendly none with 1 VC KIA. Legend: 1st Platoon 17, 2nd Platoon 44, 3rd Platoon 56, 4th Platoon 23, CO-64.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for Chu Lai.

Charlie Company
July 3, 1971
Charlie Company continued to use a Patrol Base and use multiple patrols in their Area of Operation. At 0240hrs Charlie Company 2nd Platoon at Nui Vong has preplanned practice alert at 0228hrs reached 100% at 0232hrs and back to 50% at 0237hrs, fired 6 Illumination and 1 He 81mm on preplanned Defense Targets, judged as satisfactory by Hill Officer in Charge. At 0704hrs Charlie Company 1st Platoon and Command Post moving to Patrol Base to Patrol Base to BS665523 and closed at 0940hrs. At 2025hrs Charlie Company established Night Defense Position at BS668525 and at 2040hrs requested Dust Off for the FO with sprained ankle, request Dust Off at first light pit up site Night Defense Position at 668525. Dust Off was cancelled. At 2250hrs Charlie Company at BS676530, Kit Carson Scout observed 1 VC at approximately 400 meters northeast to his front, observed for 10 minutes, called in Fire Mission expending 16 105mm HE, checked area at first light with negative results.
Delta Company

Delta Company will continued to use Patrol Bases and multiple patrolling in their Area of Operation. At 0640hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon is moving out to Patrol Base vicinity BS710475, 1st Platoon and Command Post in Patrol Base at BS704473. At 1057hrs Delta Company 2nd Platoon patrol closed vicinity BS710475. At 2015hrs Delta Company all elements in Night Defense Position at this time, Command Post and 1st Platoon at BS704477, 1st Platoon ambush at BS704472 and 2nd Platoon at BS711478 with 2nd Platoon ambush at BS711471.
Echo Company

Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. Echo Company Headquarters has the responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon is at Chu Lai fro their Stand Down.
