Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Liz and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0905hrs Charlie Company 54 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer we have 1 Vietnamese female detainee approximately 20 years who Kit Carson Scout said has an ID which is false, we will back haul her on resupply to Military Intelligence grid BS725604. At 1405hrs TMF at 1400hrs String 73 was activated by an undetermined number of personnel and confirmed by metal with negative clearance was given due to the RD Zone. At 1443hrs TMF at 1443hrs String 66 was activated by 5 personnel target C and that where moving, southeast to northwest at 3 miles per hour. It was confirmed by metal and the target was engaged at 1451hrs and made request for a Visual Recon Team to check it out. At 1530hrs Brigade Area of Operation B66 was approved to DATE/TIME 082400 July 1970 by CPT Swayback. At 1725hrs Charlie Company 26 Engineer reports we have 3 D7 operational with 2 D7 extracted. At total of 27 hours were worked in grids BS728603 to BS726605 to BS726595 to BS721597 to BS727593 and BS726592 clearing 79 acres with 1 tunnel was destroyed, 75 meters long 13’ below the ground and 3’ wide at grid BS725601, it was destroyed.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
July 3, 1970
Alpha Company OPCON to 4-3 Infantry continued to conduct Search and Clear Operations in their Area of Operations and located a VC/NVA Night Defense Position about 15 days old with 10-12 sleeping positions. At 1050hrs Alpha Company requested a priority Dust Off is completed at 1050hrs with machete cut on wrist. At 2120hrs Alpha Company located at BS483452 and BS462437 observed lights through Starlight scope at 2000meters fired Artillery and lights went out. PVT Ronald L. Wisener was treated by B 23 Medical for a wrenched back.
Bravo Company
July 3, 1970
Bravo Company continued their joint Operations with PF and RF units on their Hamlet Pacification and security of Highway 1. At 0642hrs Bravo Company the 16 element is at checkpoint 2, the 28 element is moving to BS718613 and the 56 element has closed. At 0810hrs Bravo Company the 18 element has closed and the 17 element is at checkpoint 4 at BS684603. At 1205hrs Bravo Company the 16 element is moving to BS690590 to react to intelligence that there is an unknown number of VC there. The intelligence is from the PF. At 1220hrs Bravo Company the 16 element spotted 6 people evading into a wood line at BS689582, we request 81mm clearance. Negative clearance was given due to the proximity of the no fire zone. At 1300hrs pulled out of the area due to booby traps and the no fire zone. At 1545hrs Bravo Company we request a Routine Dust Off for one US with a cut above the eve. He received the injury in an accident with a shovel (line #128), completed at 1605hrs grid BS733653. At 1830hrs Bravo Company the 59 element is at checkpoint 2 at BS753654 and the 58 element is in their Night Defense Position. At 1920hrs Bravo Company the 59 element has closed and reported finding a Punji pit at BS749656 destroyed it. PVT Barry C. Broenen was treated and released at 23 Medical with laceration left eye.
Charlie Company

At 0802hrs Charlie Company the 16 and 18 elements have closed and the Company is moving to the Day Logger at 807444. At 0905hrs Charlie Company 54 and Charlie Company 26 Engineer we have 1 Vietnamese female detainee approximately 20 years who Kit Carson Scout say has an ID, which is false we will back haul her on resupply to Military Intelligence grid BS725604. At 1615hrs Charlie Company 54 at 1615hrs picked up one more female ID said 13 Kit Carson Scout said she is 27, evac to Military Intelligence. At 1635hrs Charlie Company the 18 element is at checkpoint 1 at BS788450 and the 16 element is at checkpoint 1 at BS810460 and Charlie Company 37 is at checkpoint 1 at BS795458. At 2115hrs the Charlie Company our Night Defense Position is at BS794453 with multiply ambushes in location.
Delta Company

Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Liz and Access Road.
Echo Company
July 3, 1970
Echo Company headquarters and 4.2 Mortar Platoon is location on LZ Liz, where the 4.2 Platoon providing direct fire support for the Battalion. At 4.2 Platoon reports Fire 2 for a total expended of 22 Illumination rounds. Echo Company Headquarters has the coordination responsibility for Base Defense. Recon Platoon continued their Security Mission for 1-20 Infantry. Echo Company reports SGT JAMES EDWARD OLINGER JR IS LISTED AS KIA (see July 2 1970).
