Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Thunder and will continued to work with ARVN units in their Area of Operations. At 0730hrs 1-20 Infantry TOC Command and Control Helicopter at BS774404 observed 2 VC evading results 1 VC KIA, found on him documents will evac to Toc. At 1125hrs Delta Company 19th Engineer at BS815352 Security Element at Bridge 110 fill site had 1 grenade or possible bobby trap explode will Dust Off 1 US WHA, had frag wounds on both legs and neck, left arm broken and big toe missing. At 1645hrs Delta Company 19th Engineer at BS815352 a 290 loaded with hill hit a mine approximately 25 meters west of highway 1 a pressure type mine with approximately 25-30 pounds of explosive blew crater 6’ wide and 3’ deep negative casualties, moved the 290 to Bridge 111 with the dossier.
Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco.
Alpha Company
August 3, 1968
Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Thunder and at 0031hrs Alpha Company reports at BS889278 a US walked in front of his own ambush and was shot in the neck, A Dust Off called at 0030hrs and completed at 0035hrs serious condition. Alpha Company reports SGT Ken W. Melesky Gunshot wounds evac to 2nd Surgical at 0130hrs.
Bravo Company

Bravo Company at 0844hrs reports their location at BA TO and at 1110hrs Bravo Company is patrolling at BS567364.
Charlie Company
August 3, 1968
At 0845hrs Charlie Company is located at BS774387, the 10 element at BS765387, the 30 at BS774393. At 1038hrs Charlie Company at BS764383 found 1 tunnel complex 3’ wide, 4’ high and 60 to 80 meters long. Has been used recently, and all was destroyed. At 1935hrs Charlie Company at BS761406 observed 2 VC in black PJ evading engaged with M-60 negative results putting in Artillery will check in the morning.
Delta Company
August 3, 1968
Delta Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Charlie Brown with the 10 at BS882227 and 30 at BS909255. At 1000hrs Delta Company reports their location 10 at BSBS899239 and at BS899239, 20 and Command Post at LZ Charlie Brown, 30 at BS915212 with OP at BS933221. At 1745hrs Delta Company at BS919212 detained 1 VCS wounded by grenade frag VCS stated that VC did it, was Dust Off to LZ Bronco at 1752hrs. At 1815hrs Delta Company at BS880226 with ambush at BS885225, BS909256, 20 and Command Post is at LZ Charlie Company.
Echo Company
August 3, 1968
Echo Company is located at LZ Thunder where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Thunder. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Thunder where they continue to provide their direct fire supports to the (1-20 Light Infantry Battalion) and at 0300hrs Recon Platoon reports their OP at location BS537660.
